Men used undocumented immigrant IDs to obtain $4.4 million in NV unemployment

LAS VEGAS -- Three men plead guilty this week to stealing the identities of undocumented immigrants in order to fraudulently receive $4.4 million in Nevada unemployment benefits, according to a report released by United States Attorney Daniel G. Bogden.

The immigrants, who entered the United States illegally, were not entitled to unemployment benefits. However, 41-year-old Francisco Garcia said as part of a plea deal Monday that he and three other defendants obtained personal identifying information and work history from the immigrants, and submitted the claims for unemployment benefits through Nevada's unemployment benefit telephone hotline and website.

Garcia said that from about November 2007 to September 2009, he and three co-defendants, -- Eloy Garcia, 33, Efrain Garcia, 41, and Nabor Garcia, 32 -- fraudulently submitted at least 591 unemployment claims to the State of Nevada.

Eloy and Efrain also entered guilty pleas this week. Nabor Garcia is scheduled to enter a guilty plea next week.

The defendants submitted false notarized affidavits of identity if the State sent the claimant an affidavit due to being unable to match the claimant’s social security number to Nevada DMV records.

They had a pretty good run there. Things illegals are not suppose to get, but they do.

Let's be clear about something: They are not "undocumented immigrants." They are ILLEGAL ALIENS. They did not immigrate to this country, they snuck across the border. Calling these people "undocumented immigrants" is like calling shoplifting an "undocumented sale."

we should start doing that

theft: “undocumented sale”
murder: “undocumented end of life termination”
rape: “undocumented sexual request”

Frankly, I’m glad to hear about this. It’s not enough that illegals can get UI, but what we need to do is to allow thieves to steal UI and allow them to cash fraudulent checks.

I was listening to KGO last night and the normally very liberal (but not bomb throwing) host was talking about how the admin needs to come clean over Solyndra. Caller after caller was calling in talking about how $535 million was nothing compared to the Iraq war and the Wall St bailout and we should forget about it.

Half a billion dollars is nothing? I knew this would be the inevitable result when Hank Paulson mentioned the $787 billion number on the first TARP. Suddenly, a billion is nothing. Who knew?

“They had a pretty good run there”

And I suppose he returned the money, too.—or did napolitano and hussein give them positions in the Homeland Sec. division?

Until every bureaucrat that partook in these frauds (inadvertantly or not) is publicly beaten to death with baseball bats, they will continue. OK, that’s a little harsh; how about jail time and surrender of personal assets to reimburse the taxpayers whom they were complicit in robbing?

The lack of any real consequences has contributed to a slack environment that made 9/11 not just possible, but easy.
