Perry can not beat “the one” in a debate so I just can’t go there this time. I’m worried about same with Cain... Newt has it all from that side of things, and Romney is not an option unless and until we have no other choice. I hope they both win tonight, in fact they are both winners tonight... They already are by just doing this for us and our country tonight!!!
I agree with this. All of it. Well said.

I am actually moved by this. I know it sounds crazy...but it’s true.

I am watching two incredibly accomplished men who care deeply for their country civilly discussing their ideas. They are vying for the same position, yet they remain respectful and deferential. They express original ideas. They don’t speak in cliches. They don’t engage in petty gotcha tricks.

I will be able to very enthusiastically support either of these guys next fall. Newt is my choice, as my tagline will reveal. But nothing has renewed my hope more than this “debate” in many, many years.

Hank

Some here are so addicted to the blood-letting they can’t see what is really going on here.

Cain leads, Newt is the doer. You don’t put the doer in charge, you put the leader.

Don’t read to much into that. A boss delegates

My boss 'avoids' because she doesn't know and she's not management material...then she delegates to someone she thinks should know..but they don't either.

Cain needs to answer the questions and make statements...he's doing ok...but seems to me struggling for specific answwers

Cain—addressing Social Security.

Says “Let’s solve the problem, not prolong the problem.”

Idea of optional personal retiremeny accounts—audience applause.

Herman is human and acts like one. Someone who on occasion says ‘I don’t know’ or ‘I haven’t thought about that yet’, is has demonstrated the political sin of honesty.

I am OK with that.

From the organizers: "“We initially wanted a forum with all of the candidates,” O’Sullivan says. “But when we heard Gingrich say he wanted a more serious debate, like the Lincoln–Douglas debates, we wanted to do that, especially since watching the recent superficial debates has been frustrating.”

"Organizing the event was relatively easy, he adds. “We had a relationship with Herman Cain. He spoke at our tea-party event six months ago. We contacted him, asking if he was interested in a Lincoln–Douglas debate on entitlements. Then we got in touch with Speaker Gingrich.”

-------

But that won't stop some people from claiming that other candidates "failed to come" to a TWO-PERSON-FORMAT-DEBATE.

Perry and Romney were invited to do a DIFFERENT one-on-one: "The group has contacted the campaigns of Texas Gov. Rick Perry and ex-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney to see if they would participate in a separate Lincoln-Douglas-style debate.

I doubt they will do it -- there's nothing in it for Romney to debate Perry on his own.

But I've given up with expecting facts to get in the way of a good smear around here.

"Lean six sigma" is such BS. Newt is DISQUALIFIED.

Nonsense. Lean Six Sigma may be overrated corporate-kumbaya tripe, but forcing it upon the federal workers would be a 500% improvement.

I have a feeling that to those of us who have grown accustomed to the 60-second soundbite format debate, this may end up being a bit of a snoozefest

zzzzzzz zzzzzz I just changed channel to the Outlaw Josey Wales so I can wake up.
