Sunday night, Penn State announced athletic director Tim Curley and vice president Gary Schultz have stepped down amid allegations of an explosive child-sex abuse scandal and cover-up.
And while the pair will not survive the scandal, it is believed Penn State football icon Joe Paterno probably adhered to the letter of the law when he told the school's athletic director-but not the police-that former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky allegedly sexually abused a boy in the Nittany Lions locker room in 2002......

PSU will win the BIG 1, and their bowl, finish #6-8, and JoePa will be told it's time to go...and he will..NO way a new AD will want to deal with deciding Paterno's future.sadly, this scandal will totally block out what has been a very good year for the football team
Sandusky will commit suicide.
What I don't get is the behavior of the TA..he sees Sandusaky ANALLY raping a10 year old..yet he walks away..he shoudl have gone into the shower, removed the kid, then ponded Sandusky's head into the tile...

Sexual assault charges
Main article: Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal
On November 4, 2011; Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly indicted Sandusky on 40 counts of sex crimes against young boys, following a three-year investigation into allegations that he had inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old boy over the course of four years, beginning when the boy was ten years old. The boy’s parents reported the incident to police in 2009.[9] A grand jury identified eight boys singled out for sexual advances or sexual assaults by Sandusky from 1994 through 2009. [10] At least 20 of the incidents allegedly took place while Sandusky was still employed at Penn State.[11]
On November 5, 2011 Sandusky was arrested and charged with seven counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse; eight counts of corruption of minors, eight counts of endangering the welfare of a child, seven counts of indecent assault and other offenses.[12] Penn State athletic director Tim Curley and senior vice president for finance and business Gary Schultz (who oversees the Penn State police department) were charged with perjury and failure to report suspected child abuse by Sandusky. [13][14]
According to the indictment, in 2002 a Penn State graduate assistant - now-assistant coach Mike McQueary[15] - walked in on Sandusky having anal intercourse with a ten-year-old boy. The next day, he reported the incident to Paterno, who informed Curley. Ultimately, the only action Curley and Schultz took was to order Sandusky not to bring any children from Second Mile to the football building—an action that was approved by school president Graham Spanier. The indictment accused Curley and Schultz of not only failing to tell the police, but falsely telling the grand jury that the graduate assistant never informed them of sexual activity.[16]
Sandusky is currently free on $100,000 bail pending trial. He could face life in prison if convicted of the charges.[17]
On November 6, Penn State banned Sandusky from campus.[18]
The crimes were known to the local authorities in the 1990’s, yet ignored. In 1998 Sandusky even confessed to a mother of a boy he assaulted — local police monitored the phone call. Do you think that Joe Paterno was a genius who ran a great program, and yet so “out of it” that he did not know? The football program adept Sandusky wasn’t made the inheritor to Paterno.
Check out the Ray Gricar component of all this.
An Assistant Coach walked in on Sandusky raping a 10 y.o. anally. That’s a pretty serious charge. I’d call the police, after following the letter of the law and telling my bosses. Paterno’s got no excuse.
Apparently, Spanier knew about the “Sandusky problem,” but let the guy operate youth camps for 7 more years. I hope they send him packing.
$100,000 bail.
unbelievable.
Will do later..thanks...can you provide any links?
Correct. Ashamed and then I’d take action myself.
They’d pay that out of petty cash. We’ve got to get our moral bearings back. A child anally raped and there aren’t lynch mobs out there? I don’t get it. Where is the local anger? Why aren’t boosters withdrawing funding and parents pulling their kids out of school?
Spanier also helped cover up the Michael Mann global warming fraud, too, right?
The question will be what they all knew, and when (sound familiar?). Did they think they had a guy with poor judgment who showered with teens, or a sexual predator? If the former, was it due to willful ignorance or not?
There are a lot unknowns right now, although even the best possible scenario still looks bad.
Do you think that Joe Paterno was a genius who ran a great program, and yet so out of it that he did not know..
...if you follow my contributions to this thread, you will note that is precisely what I do not believe...
The football program adept Sandusky wasnt made the inheritor to Paterno....
...huh? Please rephrase...
Pages 7 and 8 of the Grand Jury Presentment answer a lot of questions.
There are two primary questions, as they relate to Joe Paterno:
I mean a line change in the AD offices isn’t going to be enough, jmho.
This is part bigger and longer problem at Penn State in particular, big state U’s in general and all big upper education establishments.
Penn State is being hit by a “perfect storm” wave. The state legislature and governor are still in a aggressive cost-cutting mode, the other Pennsylvanian educational establishments are going to have to fiercely compete with big dog Penn State, just to survive, and Penn State’s institutional arrogance has breed a LOT of deep animus that about to be “fracked”. In the more general picture public opinion as to the value higher education is changing rapidly, and rapidly anti-establishment.
The crimes at Penn State are just now coming out, the severity, duration and people caught up in them, seems to be increasing with every report.
I do not think Joe Pat’s reputation will survive. I wonder in Penn State Athletics will survive in any form close to current. I wonder what will happen to Hershey Medical Center. I suspect Penn State will deconstruct, implode.
I would beat the assistant coach senseless, call 911 and make sure the child was taken care of.
JoePA released a statement today in which he said he was not told that sodomy occurring just that Sandusky was doing something "improper" showering with a boy.
He said he was also unaware of any history Sandusky had.
The person who made the initial report, btw, is Mike McQueary, who was a QB for Paterno and is now his wide receivers coach.
