Look, the media didn't make this up. There was a factual story to be reported. I don't know if Cain did what was alleged or not, but the orignal story was bound to come out. Complaining that the media reported it is a dead end. Cain should have realized that it would and been prepared, or better yet put it out himself a long time ago.

every poll uses different groups to poll adults, likely voters, registered voters ect. and different weighting for party affiliation.
What matters is the gap between the candidates staying about the same
Cain could poll 30 to 25 in one poll and a few days poll 25 to 20 in another poll... and you could say... hey has dropped 5 points! OR you could say Cain remains in the lead. It’s all a matter of perspective.
