About 50 minutes before it was about to begin, PSU administrators canceled Joe Paterno's weekly news conference Tuesday.

Penn State administrators have canceled Joe Paterno's weekly news conference in which he was expected to field questions about a sex abuse scandal involving a former assistant coach.

Paterno's son Scott tells The Associated Press on Tuesday that the decision was made by President Graham Spanier's office.

Scott Paterno says his father was disappointed and was prepared to take questions about the scandal as well as the upcoming game against Nebraska.

Rocked by an alleged child sex abuse scandal, Penn State issued a statement late Monday saying that Paterno will only answer questions about football Tuesday during his regularly scheduled press conference.

The fact that McQeary discussed this with his own father and with Paterno is an indication that he was struggling with the issue and trusted that it would be dealt with correctly by those in the administration.

McQueary knew the culture at PSU protected Sandusky. McQueary went along with the cover-up and was rewarded with a coaching job.

and indeed the complete coverup since 2002)

It goes back at least to 1998.

I was not implying that. While not a Penn fan I know Joe runs the place and the people behind him. I also know that as a state employee they have legal protected status to get rid of them. It might have been why he was still around.

Got this from the bleacher report.

All you need to know is that Paterno tolerated that monster remaining on his staff after he knew exactly what type of sick pervert he is.

He was NOT on the staff when this happened.

Sandusky was no longer on his staff at the time the grad assistant came to him.

He was on his staff in 1998 when they had Sandusky on tape admitting to a mom that he had molested her son in Joe's shower room.

The grad assistant and father should have gone to the police if they were witnesses. So instead, let’s hang Paterno? Where is the anger at the grad assist. and father for not going to the police?

Many here, myself included, have stated emphatically that McQueary should have at least called 911 immediately.

It should be CRYSTAL CLEAR to anyone paying attention, that protecting the reputation of the University, the football program, the REVENUE FLOW from the football program, and the ‘Progressive cause’, was FAR more important to the Administration than the welfare of any 10 yr. old raped by a Staff Member.

And you can BET this is far from the only incident of this nature.

It wasn’t anyone famous; just some dirtbag who became infamous for his Paterno-like act at the time

“Paterno is a pervert...”

####

Increasingly, that appears to be the only logical explanation.

If not a Sexual Pervert himself, then certainly a Priorities Pervert.

“Priorities Pervert” is a very apt description.

Paterno says he knew nothing about that incident and the grand jury believes him.

In all this discussion - nobody has mentioned the responsibility of the parents in all this.

What did they know? Were they suspicious of an older man providing gifts to their boys, taking them on trips, spending time with them? Where were they?

“Where were they?”

Collecting and spending the checks from Penn State.

Can your source your info? I just reviewed the grand jury report and couldn't find it.

Yeah, you can just observe how diluted this college is in its thinking and actions as it has been living with and supporting a predator(s?) for so long that they act like it is somehow ‘normal’ deviance and will pass if they just play it down and/or ignore it.

Go! Fight! Team!.....How sad.

Remember something...
High-Level Administrators and Department heads are something akin to GODS on a big college campus, especially the taxpayer funded ones.

That they consider themselves above the law is not surprising, if you have spent any time at all dealing with the type, as I have, outside the classroom.

In all this discussion - nobody has mentioned the responsibility of the parents in all this.

I have posted the statements made today by the mother if Victim #1. She was having problems with her son and Sandusky kept telling her he would 'take care of it'. She told Sandusky that she was the mother and for him to butt out of her son's life. On learning that Sandusky was taking her son out of classes on 'trips' she called the school and arranged a meeting with officials and her son to find out what was going on. Her son broke down in front of her and the officials and told what was happening.

The school officials urged her to very carefully consider the consequences of reporting this.

She immediately left the school with her son and went to the appropriate authorities. That's where this case finally broke wide open.

I thought Ohio State was going to be the embarrassing part of the Big 10 this year with their “scandal” of turning a blind eye to free tattoos for some players. Penn State makes OSU look like saints.

The far eastern portion of the Big 10 wreeks with an harbored pedo-culture both protected and even enshrined (Indiana University)...see How Alfred C. Kinsey’s Sex Studies Have Harmed Women and Children [Big 10 harbors perp culture]

Those three universities' sorry reputations place the Big 10 as a whole in the sewer.
