The key to eliminating our oppressive regulatory regime is to simply replace the existing bureaucracy rather than trying to reform it. The current systems are so entrenched that we need to start over with new organizations and new people.
Overbearing bureaucrats are especially prominent at the Environmental Protection Agency. The arrogance, economic ignorance, and dictatorial attitude of the current organization are well known throughout much of America.

I nebver worry about laws too much, They can be changed, we can get new Representatives to wirte new ones, we can even go to court and beat them, but regulations are at the whim of some punk assed political appointee who decides all by his lonesome what the reg.s should be and the penal;ties.
—Under bureaucratic socialism, you get to own your company, but federal bureaucrats tell you how to run it.—
Actually, that is called fascism.
Newt wants to reform and rename the EPA. One of the reasons why I say he may be the smartest R candidate, but woefully lacking the wisdom needed to be a good president.
I think if we had term limits on laws and regulations with a recorded vote required to continue the term, it would be a powerful force to control the bureaucracy AND the legislators...right now there are very few advocates for the repeal of of the compost supporting stinky government...
Right. For all his great talk, his instincts are still with the State. A true conservative would advocate the outright elimination of the EPA, as an easy start.
I don't think Newt truly understands just how destructive the EPA is to our economy.
I think Newt still believes "with the right people" it can be made "better." He could not be more wrong.
EPA and the Department of Energy; both should be shaken out like dusty throw rugs.
And don’t forget the Department of Education which has ruined what was once the best education system in the world. Thank you Jimmy Carter!
IIRC, Nixon established the EPA by executive order, so in theory a future GOP POTUS could abolish it by EO as well.
Newt wants to abolish the epa as it is leftist run...his solution is right on target. Newt’s American Energy Plan:
1.Remove bureaucratic and legal obstacles to responsible oil and natural gas development in the United States, offshore and on land.
2.End the ban on oil shale development in the American West, where we have three times the amount of oil as Saudi Arabia.
3.Give coastal states federal royalty revenue sharing to give them an incentive to allow offshore development.
4.Reduce frivolous lawsuits that hold up energy production by enacting loser pays laws to force the losers in an environmental lawsuit to pay all legal costs for the other side.
5.Finance cleaner energy research and projects with new oil and gas royalties.
6.Replace the Environmental Protection Agency, which has become a job-killing regulatory engine of higher energy prices, with an Environmental Solutions Agency that would use incentives and work cooperatively with local government and industry to achieve better environmental outcomes while considering the impact of federal environmental policies on job creation and the cost of energy.
Newt speaking the truth on energy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnIkbLXif1g

This is more crony capitalism, pure and simple. Shame on you Newt. I say let the marketplace decide ALL our energy needs. Clean energy is nothing but a way for Marxists to impede capitalism.

The same bureacrats would just be reassigned. Again, the marketplace would be a superior steward of our environment. With the EPA gone, marketplace mechanisms would arise that would be more efficient, much less costly and able to respond more quickly to what would be real environmental concerns. The EPA used the "tragedy of the commons" to bring misery to every aspect of our lives.
Please ask Newt if he would get rid of the "Energy Star" program, requirement for low-flow toilets, etc. Ask him where in the United States Constitution does it permit the Federal government to such a thing.
I just heard a clip on Rush's program where Newt was still spouting off that AGW and hinting he is on the side of the left. He sounded as though he leans very much towards believing there is "definitely" a significant man-made component -- -- very disappointing.
With all that said, Newt would be superior to Mitt and he would utterly destroy Obama in the general.
