I’m sick of having this discussion. Why was Paterno being reported to? He’s not law enforcement. If McQueary witnessed a murder, would he have waited and gone to Paterno? We don’t know the extent of what was told to Paterno. What we do know is that Paterno took the allegations seriously enough to report to his boss and the de facto police commissioner with jurisdiction. He put the actual witness in touch with those people.

Exactly. McQueary, by his own testimony, saw a naked boy in the shower being raped by a naked Sandusky. There is no question about whether that is a crime, even if the boy wasn't screaming and crying. If McQueary saw Sandusky punching the boy, would he have waited to see what his dad and Paterno said to do? Now this doesn't mean Paterno is in the clear, but it puts it in perspective.
