Cain: I wouldn’t be Romney’s VP — but I’d consider being his secretary of defense
Hotair ^ | Friday November 11, 2011

Via Mediaite, what do you think? You think the famously cautious Romney would be willing to start his term with a nasty confirmation hearing featuring lots of mud-slinging by Democrats about sexual harassment? You think a President Perry or President Gingrich would be any more eager for that? (Newt seems more inclined towards a John Bolton type, which would present problems of a different sort.) Ironically, Cain’s a better prospect for VP now than he is for a cabinet position precisely because that’s the only path to power left for him that would avoid the need for congressional approval.

Here’s a list of Romney’s foreign policy and national security advisors, incidentally. Chertoff, Hayden, Cofer Black: All respect to Cain for his Navy work, but somehow I don’t see President Mitt installing an establishment outsider atop the defense pyramid when he has a stable like that. Given his economic focus and personal charm, Cain would be better off with an ambassadorship. What about Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan? (Yes, I know, ambassadors need to be confirmed too.)

So you think some rube tenant farmer is dumber than some Harvard educated affirmative action POS that was raised a privileged white boy?

Not what I said. The Primaries will determine the Republican Candidate. Hopefully that Candidate will be a Conservative.

If not, I will become an ANYBODY BUT OBAMA Voter, even if that means voting for the Dog Catcher.

My point was simply that we can't take Victory for granted.

No, Cain was NOT in the Navy. He worked for them as a civilian for a time, from what I’ve read. Maybe his campaign is trying to use that as “service”? Don’t know.

Won’t work.

Why is it that every time someone asks Herman Cain a question about what he would do if romney or one of the others was to win the primary, would Cain think about being their VP? everybody starts thinking he’s not serious about being president. I mean dang! Just because he answers a stupid question. That doesn’t mean Mr. Cain isn’t in it to win it!

Wish these people asking the question like, Neal Cavuto today on fox would start asking that question of romney. Ask romney would he want to be Herman Cain’s VP. Then would every body here start talking about romney wanting to be Herman’s VP?

What do you do when someone asks you, If you don’t win and romney does, would you consider being his VP? That does not mean Mr. Cain isn’t in it to win it. It only means they keep asking stupid questions.

60% of the American public would piss themselves laughing if perry did that against obama. and they would not vote for Perry.

Republicans should win. Unemployment is really high.

Unless the Democrats fund Perry (after all, they know that Perry would fail miserably) Perrys should quickly drop out.

The only people supporting Perry now would have to be Democrats who want the weakest candidate.

I think that Rick Perry is an embarrassment to Republicans.

I think that we’d lose House seats and Senate seats if he was the nominee, because he would damage the Republican Brand.

No reasonable Republican who saw that debate would even consider voting for Perry, unless they wanted Republicans to lose.

Democrats - that’s where all the secret Superpac that Perry is getting is coming from - they know that not only would Perry lose, he’d lose so badly that the Republican brand would be hurt.

Why does the media put him on TV so much? It’s run by Democrats.

“Cain said DOD”??

I really like Mr. Cain, but if he said this I don’t really know what to think. He admits he has sketchy knowledge of foreign affairs.

Dance with the one that brung you...economics. He is very good at that.

I agree, and would like a Republican Nominee who won’t embarass Republicans like Rick Perry would.

Oh, I’m not commenting on whether he has proven his ability to walk and chew gum at the same time as the Gov of Texas.

I’m saying he should stay there, because Republican Primary Voters don’t want a candidate who would hand the election over to Obama with a roughly comparable debate performance.

It’s just easier to pick a candidate who didn’t just do the worst debating job ever on video.

Maybe if we looked at debate class in high school? Perhaps something more embarrassing took place in a high school debate class.

Republicans want their candidates to have basic skills. Rick Perry doesn’t have those basic skills.

This post is Carl Rove Style Disinformation. I heard the interview with Savage. Post 12 has it right. The quote in hot air is deliberately inaccurate.

An accurate account of the Cain interview can be found at:

RE> Cain and Gingrich are buddies
Cain is Fred Thompson
Gingrich is McCain

OH! I SO hope you are wrong about that.
I felt totally duped by Fred. He could have crushed Obozo.
It makes my stomach hurt to think about it in that light.
I would probably loose all hope in politics and move to Australia.

“but why does Cain have to consider any lesser posts when he’s ahead of Romney all over the country?”

He. Was. Answering. A. Question.

A couple of weeks ago I asked my husband if he’d remarry if I died. (Yes. I asked that horrible ‘wife’ question.) He said that he would.

Should I have followed up with “why do you have to consider another woman? You have a perfectly good wife NOW.”

At that point, I wouldn’t be a good wife any more. (Instead I started giving him advice on what kind of wife to choose that would best fit him.)
