Herman Cain Stumbles on Question About Libya
The Weekly Standard ^ | 11/14/11 | Daniel Halper

Posted on 11/14/2011 4:49:05 PM PST by katiedidit1

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain was asked a simple question by the editorial board of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel: "So you agreed with President Obama on Libya, or not?" The response, nearly five minutes long, is painful to watch:

I'll admit it. It was painful.

Clearly he is fatigued. In the medical sense of the word.

He needs rest.

And he needs to learn when to say, “I am discussing that with my advisers, and it is a very complex issue, so I don't want to give a knee-jerk response.” And stick to that response.

Perry waited until after two debates to announce his economic/tax plan, and one of those two debates was on the ECONOMY.

You can't get hurt (too bad) by keeping your mouth shut, but you can get hurt a lot by opening your mouth if you are unprepared.

Cain should rest more, study more, and do fewer interviews.

Protecting our interest do you mean protecting the oil? How can some of these small countries be a threat to the USA? It seems funny that all this oversea presence has been after ww2 and the advancement of the CIA and military industrial business. The thousands of live that have been lost have they all been to protect the USA or for protecting oil?

That, my FRiend is the most reasonable and rational response on this thread.

No one can know everything. He needs a plan for when he is in these situations so there are no more gotchas.

""""""“I think I’ll bomb Iran this morning"""""

And this was mentioned just WHERE?

I want a President that is cognizant enough to gather his faculties quickly and precisely in any given 3 a.m. situation. Lives are at stake here, we don't need an incompetent on the job trainee. He can't delegate that situation.

Dear Miss Annie from Oklahoma,
Do you like using words like ‘hep’ and ‘what he say’ and the such?
Do you come from an ethnic background that would allow you to freely use such derivatives?
I, for instance, can freely and reflexively use ‘eh?’ in it’s proper context.
Et tu, Brut?

How would he be able to accomplish that when he is in an interview or at the debate podium? Would he say? "Time out, I need to speak to my adviser".

Or will he wear an earpiece as I suspect Clinton did in his debates, and pause just long enough to hear the answer fed to him.

I didn’t say protecting our interests. I said protecting our investments, in countries where me made enormous sacrifices in blood and treasure to protect our allies. I speak of Western Europe, Eastern Europe and South Korea specifically.

But protecting oil, the lifeblood of the global economy that sustains our way of life, is a worthy pursuit as well.

I agree with you to some extent, just not 100%. Isolationism is just as reckless as unchecked interventionism. That’s just the way I see it.

On Libya...it was all over the news. I heard Bolton comment several times on Fox and the reporters were over there crying for the usa to aid the insurgents and dispose of ghaddifi. Obamas plan was NO boots on the ground, use Nato, use drones and assist the insurgents. Bolton stated we did not know enough about the rebels. Obama initiated all this without going to congress. If I had been Cain...i would have simply said...his initiation was wrong..he should have consulted congress first. He should have come before the American people along with his advisors and justified the attacks. He did none of the above

Wait, weren’t you talking about Life or Death situations? None of those are interviews or debates.

Let’s stay on track here.

How many died in south Vietnam for nothing? As far as oil goes we have more oil in the continental US than all of Saudi Arabia it just coast more than 10 cents a barrel to extract.

A very good book to read is Big Oil & Their Bankers In The Persian Gulf: Four Horsemen, Eight Families & Their Global Intelligence, Narcotics & Terror Network Dean Henderson (Author). This book will show you who is truly running our foreign policy.

Cool down.

"""""Do you come from an ethnic background that would allow you to freely use such derivatives"""" You'll never know now will ya'?

Hep' it, came from, I think Ma.Richards, when she tried to debase Bush, He can't Hep' it, he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth". Maybe your not old enough to remember that?

"What he say?", that is what most people do when they hear Cain or Zero or others like them speak, after they thought they understood it. Vote them in anyway, as long as they sound like they knew what they meant.

Et tu, Brut. well good for you, you are learned.

Agreed. I trust him 1,000% to do what he thinks is best for America, and he’d do a good job. But in the debates, he comes across as a rube and Obama would wipe the floor with him.

Perry looks like a genius next to Cain...

No he doesn't.

horrendous blunder on Libya!

We still don't have a full assessment about who the opposition is. Cain identifies that as the problem. Cain says that any action would depend on that assessment.

Apparently Cain gets it right.
