The Secret Service searched Occupy D.C. on Monday for a man suspected of firing bullets at the White House on Friday, one of which was stopped by the building’s ballistic glass.
Protestor Ralph Wittenberg told TPM on Tuesday evening that authorities came through “searching for a so-called terrorist who shot at the White House, with no warrant, they went into everybody’s tents.”
A person handling media requests for Occupy DC confirmed the searches and said they were led by the Secret Service. The agency did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Police have been trying to locate 21-year-old Oscar Ortega Hernandez, a mentally ill man from Idaho who authorities say is connected to the incident, which apparently took place on Friday.
Agents began investigating after gunshots were heard on Friday night, but NBC Washington reports that agents didn’t discover the bullets until Tuesday morning.
One bullet hit an exterior window of the White House but was stopped by the bulletproof glass behind the historic glass. An additional round was found on the exterior of the building, the Secret Service told the news channel. Authorities recovered an AK-47 rifle near the scene.
Strangely, the Secret Service says the agency isn’t yet positive that the Friday incident is linked to the bullets found on the grounds of the White House.

Doesn't say anything about "except squatters". Who's the twit now?

The story is nuts! I wouldn’t be surprised if someone working in the WH tried to shoot someone, and now they’re trying to come up with a cover story for the bullet hole(s). Shades of Vince Foster.....

The untreatable TB reports seem to have been motivational to the Regime. Else Obama would have kept those kids and street people out there all winter long.
Why do you imagine the White House has such technology. They didn’t even have bullet resistant windows until Bill Clinton blew up the OK City federal building.
You can't just stop junkies on the street and search them without probable cause.
Now these tents present a problem ~ but probably not in DC since it's not in the 9th Circus jurisdiction. In general the courts here have held you pretty much need a permit to do stuff on public property. There's a lot of demand for that public property and if you just let folks enter and do what they wanted pell mell you'd probably have fights.
There are no campgrounds on the Mall. At the same time the Boy Scouts got permits and camped out once a year. So there is a permitting process for tents in the federal district.
Maybe they're not looking in the right place!

Oscar Ortega-Hernandez? Would it not be interesting if this guy turns out to be an illegal alien with no documentation and came across the unprotected borders because of Obama and Napolitano policies. You would never hear this on State-run, network TV or radio.
Maybe, it was a set up? The no gun aqenda?
help me out here gun guys. Is it possible to shoot a garden variety AK (assume 7.62 x 39) 600+ yards from a moving vehicle and hit and penetrate ballistic glass (assume the strongest available)a few times?
I don’t know about you but I can’t hit the broad side of a 17 x 22 target at 100 yards with mine, and I’m pretty good with a rifle.
(paraphrase) How does someone with a rifle and scope get that close to the White House. There were 2 cars involved and they were unable to find the guy. He gave other examples of poor security, his take is the left is going to turn on Obama. The press is trying to tear down US. It puts all of us at risk.
