Not all Shiites are Twelvers (Ahmedinejad is), but most of the jihadis/terrorists are Shiites (Al Queda, for example). They are brutal fundamentalists who want to obliterate Israel. Sunnis tend to be more reasonable in that area. The Shah of Iran was Sunni while Khomeini et al were Shiites.

Then we’re screwed vis a vis artzot habrit (America) in the near term, and have to hold out for a new prez in the long. Pray we don’t see any mushroom clouds in the interim.
Translation: The Wahabi-Sunni Muslim fundamentalist extremists of Saudi Arabia, and their Arab lackey states are asking Israel and the U.S. to strike-out their competitors for the title of king of the heap in Islam - the Shia Muslim fundamentalist extremist theocrats in Iran.
Sorry, we don't have a dog in that race; Israel might but the U.S. doesn't. If the Wahabi-led Sunnis and the Iranian led Shia want to go at each other to the bitter end, and Israel won't give the advantage to the Sunnis, we can and should stand aside, and hold our powder until time to go and pick up the pieces.
Most of them have air forces. Saudi Arabia has 200 F-15s and Tornadoes. Oman has F-16s and Jaguars. Jordan has F-16s and F-5s as well as Mirages. Have at it.
