Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney on Monday defended his administration’s efforts to cover its electronic tracks with the purchase of hard drives from state computers, saying he had no intention of providing ''opposition research teams'' with electronic communications from his term as governor. Meeting with the editorial board of the Nashua (N.H.) Telegraph, Mr. Romney was questioned about a Boston Globe story (snip) Last week, Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades accused Mr. Patrick of running a ''dirty tricks''shop for the president’s benefit and requested documents on any contact his administration has had with top Obama White House or campaign operatives.

If legal, who would blame him?

I think it was a smart move, especially with the opposition party taking over.

If Palin did this (and if it were legal to do so) then you know she would be bashed by the Press and establishment types.

He does need to scrub his liberal record clean. I’m surprised Mittens hasn’t done it already.

Must have the same team that scrubbed Obama’s background.

I don’t fault him for this. No reason why he should hand ammunition over to Obama’s good pal, Deval Patrick.

Anyway, Romney can be faulted on about 99 other issues, and that’s plenty.

By law all electronic communication was to be printed out and archived. It’s questionable whether the law was followed.

Has any governor had their e-mails searched like Palin? No and if they did could they stand up to the media. No. How about Obama’s Senate e-mails. Romney will never win the nomination too many handlers.

Quite the contrary. As I understand it, there are print copies of everything which are, however, somewhat time-consuming to go through.

Yeah, I heard they turned in over 700 boxes of papers. I didn’t mean to imply that Romney didn’t comply but that it’s hard to tell. Until there is evidence otherwise, it’s a non story.

This won;t be a big issue in the media until after they help him secure the GOP nomination. Then it’s katy-bar the door.
