Just stay pragmatic in your arguments and you will see the turn. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving, my time on FR is off for a number of days. :^)

I agree it’s not gonna happen because no one has the backbone. But it is a sure incentive for more to sneak in.
In case you have’nt figured it out, I am supporting Cain. For two reasons...I am done with professional politicians, and Cain is likely to get the most votes from the 95% black voting group for Obama in 2008. That just may be the difference between winning & losing a close election.

“Go to ANY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE CIVILIZED WORLD.... ILLEGALLY!!!!... you get NOTHING”

Not exactly - if you go to England and get sick or break your leg, etc., you get free healthcare even if it requires a hospital stay and that’s the truth.

I am going to have to do some looking myself, but other than Prohibition, has there ever been a governmental program or agency that has been “dropped off entirely”?

I am so tired of watching the Federal government look the other way on an issue as serious as illegal entry into this country, and then tell American citizens and legal immigrants that the problem is so big that we just have to get used to it.

Securing our borders is one of the very few duties they actually SHOULD be doing. We need to elect someone who will make government do what it is obligated to do WITHIN the Constitution, and who is ready to begin the Herculean task of reining in government, in order to stop it from doing what it has NO business doing.

May God guide our course.

You are insane if you think Cain will get 95% of the black vote.

Try 5 %

Maybe that’s all Perry will pull, but don’t fool yerself.

Yes, I stand corrected. Cain is far smarter than me. He did well tonight

I thought it was courageous for him to bring this up and be willing to take the heat for it-knowing what the reaction would be in threads like this and across the conservative spectrum. He is right though-the reality is you’re not gonna be able to send 30 million people home, and AFTER we get the border secured, we’re gonna have to decide what to do with all these people, and there may need to be some lines drawn. Good people can disagree on this, but I really don’t think this is an unreasonable position. And as an undecided, it didn’t make my view of Newt any less favorable.

Maybe they do look it the illegal problem too simplistic as there was a time when one could do so...that time is long past. They're here and it's a matter of getting the border secured determining how and who to allow to stay....which btw that alone might get some of them off the welfare rolls if they target those on them.

Cain will probably get 20%. That is enough. The idiot white vote gets him nothing,

Let me correct that. The idiot white vote gets OBAMA nothing. They are poor and pissed.

A million and more illegals would self deport if they were denied welfare, free health care, and schooling, and if every employer were fined $1000 per day per illegal.. Easy. We just have to have the balls to do it.

“Newt just said something pretty smart about Iran. They only have one refinery. Weak point on Iran.”

I’ve said it for a long time now. A few years ago when Iran was saber-rattling (again), Cheney quietly went to the Saudis and next thing we know, Saudi Arabia raised the price on the gasoline they sold back to Iran after refining their oil. That ended the problem...for awhile.

If we had a decent president, we could put a major hurt on Iran (and get cooperation of enough countries to join us as well), by cutting off their Central Bank. Real banking sanctions would cripple Iran.

What about simply securing the border, while simultaneously removing the free services that draw them?

To: thesearethetimes...

Look, the government as it operates now is disfunctional in most everyway...so how else are we going to replace it? We have to start somewhere and the people have made it clear in these elections we are ready for that.

What do you do with any train gone off track and stuck in a quaqmire....you dig it out...and get it back on track...but in this case we have to do the heavy lifting of putting it not only back on track but changing the direction almost entirely.

There’s many agencies in our government that can be quickly dissolved...the Czars and their elarged staff can go immediately...and there are more just like them. But at the same time you have to impliment those to carry out the plans needed, as with immigration etc. There will be alot of overlapping.

But yes I do believe it can be done and I do believe if it’s ever going to even get done it will be from the President who takes charge in 2012...and that of the representatives we’re going to replace the others with.

Nobody wants to hear the MExicans who have broken our laws by coming here are going to get to stay....I sure don’t..but what are the options which can really be put into place and workable? It’s just too dang late to kick them out...and that is a tear-jerker when you try to accept it...because it has been an invasion into our country just as the muslim invasion is happening now.

You really need to read my post more carefully next time. But since you are a nice person, I will repeat what I said...

95% of black vote went to Obama in 2008.
Cain will get more of that 95% than any other GOP candidates.
There is a good thread from Morehouse college today on FR which confirms this. Cain could get between 20 & 30% of the black vote leaving Obama 70 to 80%. That will defeat Obama.
