November 23 A new poll suggests that Mitt Romney's faith could play a role in the 2012 Republican nominating race, with a sizable portion of respondents saying they believe that Mormonism is a non-Christian faith.

The survey from the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, conducted earlier this month, showed Romney the slight favorite among the Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters surveyed. He edged Herman Cain, 23% to 22%, with Newt Gingrich at 16%.

We profess freedom of religion in this country and we should live up to that.
Judge the man on his political convictions and not his spiritual convictions. Anybody who cries about the Mormon religion should really think about how the muslim religion (and I use the term religion lightly) has effected the oval office.

What a bunch of hogwash. Mormon's are great patriotic Americans.

I'm not Mormon, but if I didn't vote for Romney, it wouldn't be because he is Mormon!

I don't prefer Romney for GOP, but next to Obama it's a no brainer.

Romney all the way against Obama!

This shouldn’t be, but if he gets the nomination the obama, lock-step media will have a field day with his religion. It’s gonna be very ugly...

Name one person of FR that says people can’t practice in whatever religion they want.
Romney’s entire character is based on his religious convictions, just like everyone else.
These beliefs are who he is as well as his political governance.

Mormon's are great patriotic Americans. Source?

I ask because people say that all the time. I would not call Reid a patriotic American, yet he is honored by lds as a "good example of what mormons should be".

I would not call a governor who passed govern mandated health care a good patriotic American.

I would not call a state (Utah) a good patriotic state that panders to illegals.

mormonISM is at its core deceptive. They have a wonderful PR machine.

They can get all the ammo they need right here on FR.

yup, the militant homos are looking for revenge on the LDS over the LDS support of prop 8. I don’t have any issue with his religion, I just dislike his socialist tendencies

Mormon's are great patriotic Americans.

I agree with that. However, I also don't consider Mormons to be Christians. Saying that, I wouldn't really care if Romney worshiped a giant cockroach god if he were a real conservative. Mitt's problem is he is a flip flopping chameleon who will say whatever he feels is necessary to win.

I don't prefer Romney for GOP, but next to Obama it's a no brainer.

I agree with that as well. I will under no circumstances vote for Romney in the primaries, but if he wins the nomination I will vote for him against Hussein. I regard 3rd party voting is a useless waste of time. We have a two party system and that isn't going to change no matter how much people scream and cry about it. Most of the time I have to vote for the lesser of two evils and sadly, I don't expect that to change anytime soon.

Right or not, it is something that is going to play a part, and I believe there will be more collateral damage from it than some people admit/expect. A great deal of the GOP fratricide in the last five or six years can be attributed Mitt Romney & Friends' ego, and Barack Obolshevik has to be the luckiest recipient of GOP tone-deafness in living memory. Mitt delivers a Dem/Marxist wet dream: help the GOP nominate the one man the fewest of the GOP base will vote for (let alone donate/work for) and thereby keep the White House solidly Dem/Marxist and give a down-ticket boost to same, implode the GOP in a Whig-like swoop, demoralize the tea party activists and get proxies to morally destroy the LDS during the general election process. Win, win, win, win.

Following November 2012, Mitt Romney will have no more utility value, and I believe he may end up being one of the most despised and discarded men this formerly great nation has ever seen. Presumably he has enough lucre stashed around the place to blow off the consequences of his hubris. I wish I did.
