All the Republican candidates have warts. I say turn the warts into beauty marks. In Cain’s case, he has proved that he an Alpha male on steroids. When comparing Cain to Zer0, Cain kicks Zer0 to the curb as the girly boy he is. Cain would beat Zer0 like a tin drum and I believe, the single female electorate would have a secret crush on him.
I honestly don’t know why anyone would run as a GOP candidate with this much hidden baggage (if true).

I agree. As soon as I started to read the other article (I saw the second before this one, but this had more comments, so I’ll comment here), I had the realization, that the GOP nominee will be Romney, with, I strongly believe, Bachmann as the VP candidate. Here’s why:
“Margin of error Perry” is entirely dispopular with the vast majority of the country, and the vast majority of Republicans, and dead in the water with both independents and democrats, he’ll never be run. Cain will probably throw his support behind Romney (maybe not, but I think so), effectively handing the GOP nomination to him. Romney, like McCain picking Palin, will probably pick up Bachmann, to try and shore up the conservative vote. I do not think we will ever again see “two white men” on the same ticket for many years, possibly ever. Now that we have had an election with a “minority” on both tickets, I think there will always be one on both sides. This means that Romney will either pick a woman, or a racial minority, evidence points to picking a woman, to trump the race card with the sex card, as McCain did.
As for the presidential race, I think Paul will go third party, and I have no idea who will win. At this point, I suspect Obama, due to voter fraud, but I suppose I have anoth year to take more into perspective at that point.
OK. With Cain gone I am ready to reshuffle the deck.
What are the hurdles a candidate would have to overcome to get into the race at this late date?
We need somebody that is going push for a fundamental change to our tax system. Not just tweek around the edges.
Oh yes you will....Obama by default.
A few of weeks ago it was apparent to me that Cain wasn’t going to make it.
Yesterday it became very apparent that he was likely going to drop out within a week.
He’s gone, he just hasn’t boarded the outgoing train.... but he will and soon.
I love how the media savages all R candidates besides Romney and so many FReepers play the fool for it.
While I prefer Newt to Mitt, if Cain bows out, I will reluctantly support Perry.
What’s a prepper?
I have run a successful privately owned business for many years. It is still thriving today, in spite of the dismal economy.
In business, in any negotiation, my grandfather taught us that you never enter in to a business agreement unless you are willing to walk away with nothing. That way, you are never negotiating from a position of weakness.
This principle does not apply to choosing a President. In assessing a candidate, it seems painfully obvious that we are not always going to get the total package we want. There are always going to be positions, issues, etc. that we cannot all find consensus upon.
I think it is highly advisable that conservatives begin to define the areas we are not willing to budge on versus the issues we are willing to delay or ignore for a while in an attempt to get behind a single candidate and stick with them. Obviously, for me, Mitt Romney is not that man. There are too many issues in which he has proven repeatedly he is far too left/centrist leaning for my taste.
I don’t know yet who I actually prefer. But I think the dialogue needs to be opened and examined with the choices we have. Without it, with even a hairline fracture in our ranks, we may be doomed to another 4 years of the socialist in the White House and this is not acceptable.
I have not been here as long as most of you and I don’t want to appear to be preachy, but the reality is, with the exception of Romney, almost any candidate will be an improvement over Obama.
As a voice and source of information for millions of conservatives across the country, it seems it is incumbent upon those of us here to keep our “wish list” in open discussion and decide, if we can, what is negotiable and what is not.
If I am off-base or over stepping my bounds, please slap me (softly) and I will retreat back into my little corner of the world.

you know... I hold to ill feelings towards Cain. Even though he literally cost me thousands of dollars in losses on Intrade, I wish only the best for him and hope he is able to keep his family together and stay well and live a long life.
I just feel sorry for him mostly, it’s like a cautionary morality tale where poor choices lead to desaster. Every man considering cheating on his spouse should learn something from this.
Try your hardest to be the best person you can be, avoid the temptations of life that will destroy you. I have no doubt that Cain could of been president.

Yep...and Billy-Bob Clinton would still be considered by the morons (and there seems to be a plethora of them) a viable candidate.

True about Harriet Miers. (Or I, at least, believe it.)
And even Republican presidents pick horrific clunkers (Warren, Brennan, Blackmun, Souter). But at least we have a good SHOT at conservatives with a non-leftist President.
FWIW, I read that Robert Bork is on Willard’s judicial advisory committee. So I tend to think that, on the issue of judges, Willard will be hugely better than Obama (or that, if he’s not, Bork will make a public stink and quit, at least).
No clue about Newt. He has 2/3 the flip flops of Mitt, triple the wives and double the weight. Seems to lack self-control. But Newt > Obama in a heartbeat. For the Court.
Wrong on both points. Perry is MUCH more conservative than either President Bush and he's also very eloquent. I admit his debate performances have been less than stellar but his retail politicking is great. He's veery good face to face...check out Youtube for his interviews with Cavuto or Hannity.
I also recommend his book 'Fed Up'. Read that and the forward by Newt.
