If the Palin diehards would get over they’re primary crap and put the country first Bachmann would do well.

“Why?”

Because in a debate, Rick Perry makes George W sound like a damned genius that’s why. In every debate (that I have seen) Rick Perry only opens his mouth to stick his feet in it.

If he could string together some debates where he actually did NOT sound like an escapee from the short bus, I’d feel differently.

Lets be honest. The 2012 group of GOP wannabees are no better then the 2008 cast of characters. I want the best Reagan conservative chosen to run against Obama. That isn't Romney or Newt. Perry was the one who had the strongest inside track to the nomination but he blew it through numerous self-inflicted wounds based on his lousy debate performances. The upside for Perry is, he has a great conservative governing record in Texas but hasn't been able to convince voters to take a second look at his candidacy.

Its a long way to the convention and not one primary vote has been taken yet. With 65%-70% of Republicans not sure who they'll vote for, this remains a wide-open primary race.

I think Cain will never quit, he is too strong, he is a Christian with strong beliefs.

I bet if he was to be taken to a secret room under the Whitehouse and TOLD to quit...or else...

He would have just laughed and sang a song.

Great list. I’d be proud to vote for any of them. What we’re seeing now is that an actual conservative (like those on your list) will never be the nominee of the Republican party. 2012 presented the optimal set of circumstances in every respect for this to be “our” time. Instead we’re going to be given a nearly identical replay of 2008.

I pray he stays in.

I do not believe the allegations...though I am sure it is putting he and his family through hell.

It is clear that the DNC, MSM, progressives, RINOS and political elite hate Cain and the very idea of him staying in the race and having any chance to win.

His candidacy, like the views of Clarence Thomas, make the lie of the welfare, entitlement, and plantation system the left has set up and that they beat the GOP over the head with causing many to compromise on and go along so they do not look, “heartless.”

It’s long past time the lie was exposed and put behind us so we can right the ship of our internal and domestic affairs, social issues, and spending.

Cain would do all of that and a lot more...he is the death knell to their decades and generations long “socialist dream” which is a nightmare for our constitutional republic.

Absolutely correct. There was a time when even a “policy leftist” appointed to the high court recognized that, gosh darn it, the law did not allow or guarantee every leftist RESULT desired.

But can you think of the last “policy liberal” who, once on the Court, declined to “find” that the law (conveniently) always happened to guarantee his preferred liberal result? Felix Frankfurter?

In contrast, Scalia an Thomas, and to a lesser degree others, have fought the good fight by insisting “this Court shouldn’t even have the power to be deciding this issue in the first place” on issue after issue.

But all the more reason to vote in 2012 so as to prevent more young Sotomayors and Kagans from arriving on the bench in place of aging Scalias.

You didn’t read my post. You just linked to it. Your questions are answered there.

It is August of 1939. You are Jewish and live in Warsaw. You have seen the future. What are you going to do about it?

Are you a doom and gloomer, or a realist?

Um... As disasterous and precarious as the situation in our great nation is right now, I think comparing our current plight to a Jewish holocaust in Nazi Germany is perhaps a tad flawed and over the top, don’t you think?

But I’ll tell you what I’m going to do about it... Like you, I’m going to do whatever I have to do to protect and preserve my family. By the same token, I’m not going to crawl into some hole, let the evil S.O.B. left-wingers take over the nation, and declare western civilization dead. I will remain strong and positive. I will continue talking to my family, friends, and co-workers about the importance of voting Obama out of the presidency in 2012. I will remain VERY active in campaigning, donating, and electing as many conservatives as possible to the House and Senate this coming election year. These a-hole Dems have royally screwed up the economy and American exceptionalism and the good news is, MOST PEOPLE KNOW IT. Have you forgotten about the HUGE victories we achieved at the ballot box just one year ago??? Yes, we still have A LOT of work to do, but we at least captured one chamber of congress and dramatically slowed down Obama and the Dems’ left-wing agenda. Meanwhile, look at Obama’s dismal job approval numbers and Americans’ overwhelming disapproval of the current direction of the country. Obama and the Dems are SITTING DUCKS. They CAN and WILL be defeated with just a little team effort.

So to answer your finally question in conclusion, I firmly believe I am a REALIST.

And so were our Founding Fathers even when the odds were overwhelmingly against them.

I always find that an interesting anomaly. Dems virtually never care about moral character. In fact, they practically celebrate the lack of it. But when the John Edwards affair story broke, I read on many lib message-boards, and they felt REALLY betrayed by him. Lots and lots of anger and disgust. I think much had to do with the cheating on a ‘sick wife’ angle.

Edwards was out of any office before that ever came up, so there is no comparison.

I disagree. Back in 2008 people thought Obama was articulately brilliant and moderate wanting change and reform.Obama’s gig and tactics are up.

If Herman drops out, I will have lost all hope for defeating Romney. Yes, Herman’s supporters, like me, would move to a different candidate, but I honestly don’t believe we have enough time to raise another credible challenger.

This is incredibly depressing.

The GOP is trying to crush the tea party and if they want a jihad, let them blow themselves up.

Good point regarding the Tea Party. If Cain drops out, hopefully Bachmann will pick up his votes.

Ah, yes, you are a noob, as you are entirely too polite and diplomatic in expressing your opinions on the arena floor. Actually that is refreshing. Welcome to Free Republic, and with regard to your tagline you will find quite a few politically conservative Jews here. Pinging MestaMachine and Nachum to perhaps show you around. Come on in and get comfortable.

With regard to your points, they are quite valid, but time is running out.

“I look at revelation 18 with more and more interest lately.”

Agreed. I often muse whether the term Babylon in that particular chapter is figurative, literal, or both. I suppose both. I don’t know that 2012 will be THE big year, but I certainly believe that it will be A big year. sneakers/athletic shoes are supposed to jump something like 50% in the first 2 quarters of next year. All of these price increases have a lag effect, add to that the theory that virtually everything trends exponentially.

Another FReeper had a post about a book that discussed the idea that most changes throughout history go on a near exponential curve, which are very slight at first and very rapid at the end. I have come to watch for that more, and more, since that post, and I agree. The amount of debt that we “have” is impossible. We have to look at things differently. I always look at financial things in terms of man hours (the only thing that matters). When we have something like a 150 Trillion dollar future deficit, you have to think, that’s going to take trillions of labor hours to produce whatever is needed. You can afix whatever number you want to it, but it boils down to say 75 million retired people means 75 million slaves to pay for it. So far we have been using third world labor imbalances to make up for that, but what happens when no one labors to buy our debt. The simple answer, war. Hyperinflation changes the nominal amount of dollars, but not the fact that one hour of sowing=one hour of reaping (figuratively). And socialism tries to keep reaping, while the sowing diminishes on that same exponential curve. Eventually no one will want to work as a slave (through taxation), to pay for someone else to live luxuriously. Foreign, or domestic.

I think Perry is just fine in knowing the issues intellectually. And he has been governor of a huge state and has a pretty good overall record, (the immigration stuff has some holes for sure)
He is vastly more experienced than Obama was.

And yes I think political experience is a big plus. It's great to say: “I have never been in politics so I will not be tainted”.
That is naive I think. Once elected; you have to get stuff done. You have to use the machinery that is in place. You can't just imprison Congress and start issuing edicts (as tempting as that sounds!)

But his debate performance has some pretty big holes. Not sure what that us all about.

We honestly don't have a lot of good choices from what I can see.
I absolutely will not consider Romney or Paul. The others; sigh....

Did you see what they did to herman cain?

Did you see any of our guys stand up to them?

I do not know what else to say other than in nature, the weak do not survive.
