The GOP rivals have no responsibility to defend Herman Cain. For all we know, some of the allegations may be true. None of the GOP candidates attacked him over it - and I think that is all that can be expected.

Herman Cain is not some icon of conservative politics. He is nothing special. He’s no different than any other vanity candidate that has run in the past.

You do understand how elections work, don’t you?

Ten million more people voted for Obama than for Cain.

At least 5 million of them need to be persuaded to switch, or 10 million of them to just stay home.

And “No, we’ll just get the base out” is a a laughable alternative.

Just out of curiosity, do you think McCain lost because he wasn’t conservative enough?

Santorum is an option.

May be, back to Bachmann? ;^)

What about Herman’s marriage? I think he should concentrate on fixing whatever needs fixing in his personal relationship with his wife of 43 years...before politics!

Say they were true. Cain's honest and forthright admission along with proof of a repentant heart and a mind/life change might have made a difference.

It's a lot harder for someone that made a huge deal of being on the God Squad beforehand to do this (and yes, I know Clinton made a big deal of being seen going to Church, etc. but it was nowhere near Cain's level of religious talk).

"Cain was my last hope. I would not touch any of the others. The only one I will NOT vote for is Romney. My choice, second to Cain, is Perry."

ditto, tho I'm not as fond of Perry as you are.

In a way I hope there is something to the allegations...otherwise the DNC machine is doing a bang up job of taking out my candidate.

Sorry, but if you’re exchanging 60+ text/phone calls over a 4 month period
_________________________
Actually, NO, I don’t buy that at all. If they were all phone calls, maybe, but 60 texts AND phone calls? Over a 4 month period? 1/3 of a year? Which means about 15 texts AND phone calls a month OR 60 total in one month, who knows. Do you text? If so then you are aware that texts can add up to ridiculous totals to say very little. For an ongoing affair, and over a 4 month time span, I would expect to see hundred of phone calls, maybe thousands of texts. 60??? in 4 months is laughable.

Who put this map together? Virginia has had photo ID required since the 1990’s, well before 9/11, and well before parts of the state were heavily illegal alien occupied. George Allen was governor when it was enacted. The Dems fought it tooth and nail, but you MUST show govt issued photo ID to vote in the Old Dominion, and have for more than 10 years.

It’s really disgusting that so many people don’t even see this. Used to be common cultural understanding.

Or, you could have your masters close all of your public records and invent an entirely new past for you, with ghost written autobiographies, forged birth certificates, phony draft registrations, and multiple social security numbers.

That's it in a nutshell.

The GOP presidential field is disappointing in many ways. And you are correct that our hope now lies in the hands of the Senate and the House. However, that would make a bad GOP candidate preferential to 0bama. Our Constitution gives the executive a lot of power to thwart the will of Congress. 0bama can be counted on to oppose the conservative agenda on all fronts. On the other hand even a RINO POTUS is not as likely to oppose a more conservative Congress on most points.

If he were a liberal dhimmicrat...he would be pushed to the front of the line...

Bill Clinton would give him his special recommendation and the MSM would condemn all who spoke of his sexual activities as irrelevant and RACIST.

Remember, what matters isn’t the popular vote for the Presidential election; it’s the electoral college. Popular vote didn’t help Al Gore a bit.
