Sarah Palin, who decided not to run for the White House and has so far been only a bit player in the race, name dropped Rick Santorum in her assessment of the GOP field, saying that he is the candidate who has been most ideologically consistent and will likely start getting a look from conservative voters.

If she will endorse him, this is a smart play. Pump him up and see if she can nudge his polls up. If so, expect a post-Christmas endorsement.

I’m not sure Rick may want that endorsement...

She smiled upon Rick Perry.....he tanked

She smiled upon Herman Cain....he tanked

The most assinine, distorted headline I have seen outside of protecting liberals or assaulting conservatism!

Sarah just picked a name out of thin air....nothing more.

Sarah was always going to choose the winner.

That's why there have been all the stories about Myth demanding she endorse him.

Could be, but he’s got to rise in a lot more in Iowa to seal the nomination.

Huckabee pulled off a surprise win in Iowa in 2008, but fizzled out shortly thereafter.

I would like it if he did...Santorum is the only non-Romney (besides Paul) who hasn’t had a massive surge in the polls. If Gingrich declines, Santorum would be the only shot we have. Incidentally, I researched Santorum’s background and he’s actually got the most conservative record of all the candidates.

When this plays out it’ll save us from the crop of RINOs currently in the lead AND cement her status as the ultimate kingmaker.

She didn’t endorse either of them (for President) and their tanking was of their own doing (well, Perry more so than Cain, but Cain didn’t handle things well)

How much farther can you sink than 1 percent?

Anything less and it’d be like he wasn’t polling at all.

She also was effusive in her praise of Newt Gingrich, saying that the reason for his rise in the polls was because people are ready for a serious candidate with serious workable solutions to our problems. Smart woman, that.

I posted a link on another thread about how John Kerry’s candidacy was dead in the water two weeks before Iowa. Then he did a big offensive there and carried off a huge upset.

So, it happens.

Totally wrong, she did not smile on anyone. She only endorsed Perry for Governor and then he screwed that up. She likes Cain, but has not pushed him. She has said very nice things about Santorum, probably because their views are close.

I would be so excited to vote if Santorum becomes the nominee. Bachmann too. I would love for them to make the ticket as a matter of fact. Put Cain in the Administration and we would be pretty good to go.

I don’t see where you’re going with this.

Did you see Palin’s appearance on Hannity last night?

And she said in the article she is not endorsing anyone yet. But she did talk up Santorum last night and she used the word “consistent” several times.

“Consistent” is clearly an “not Newt” word.

I took from her appearance that she was saying that a lot of conservatives were going to take a second look at other candidates, including Santorum, before rushing headlong into Newt’s arms.

Oh your little RINO will be fine. Don’t worry. Ugh you liberal Republicans drive me crazy. Can’t you be happy that perhaps we MIGHT finally get a conservative as the nominee?
