Herman Cain, the insurgent populist whose candidacy has been ensnared by allegations of sexual impropriety, said Saturday that he is leaving the race for the Republican presidential nomination, saying that the allegations have cast a "cloud of doubt over me and this campaign."
"As of today, with a lot of prayer and soul searching, I am suspending my presidential campaign," he said at an event in Atlanta. "I am suspending my presidential campaign because of the continued distraction, the continued hurt . . . on me, on my family, not because we are not fighters, not because I am not a fighter."
Cain's campaign had sent mixed signals as to his future since Ginger White, an Atlanta woman who claims to have had an affair with Cain for more than a decade, went public with her story earlier this week. While Cain has said he has been "reassessing" his candidacy, he also, at times, has been fiercely defiant, suggesting that unnamed enemies have been trying to do him in and vowing to press forward.
"The pundits would like for me to shut up, drop out and go away," he said. "I am not going to be silenced, and I am not going away."

I don’t see any other explanation for the way this has played out... I think the card has been on the table for a while now. Just that conservatives are too scared to call what happened to Mr. Cain what it really is...RACISM. There is NO other explanation - NONE. All the people claiming that Mr. Cain is morally corrupt, but then turn around and support Mr. Gingrich? What other explanation could there be???

How about what Mr. Cain gave them to use against him (13 years of supporting another woman without his wife's knowledge)? It wouldn't have stopped me from voting for him, but he contributed to his own distruction.

Mr. Cain has stated flatly that Ms. White’s allegations are entirely false.
If Mr. Cain is not being 100% truthful in saying this then he is unfit to be our nominee.

As for all of his dirty laundry already being aired - what does that even matter? You don’t think the Dems REMEMBER what they did to make him leave a little over a decade ago? I’m in my late 30s and I TOTALLY remember how hated Newt was - on BOTH SIDES back then.

It does not matter anyway because even if a Conservative like Cain was elected, the RINOs in the Senate would form another band 6, 12 or whatever to stop him, so their goes the USSC because like the Democrats, RINOs live to gum up the works.
I refuse to vote for Romney(who is nothing more than a Rove/Bush socket puppet to lose, so we end up with Jeb in 2016 another big/one world government type) and Newt(he is a life long politician willing to make wheels and deals to get a few crumbs), this is a victory for the Democrats and RINOs over a good Conservative.
