Glenn’s revealing interview with Newt Gingrich ( Newt is a progressive )
Glenn Beck ^ | December 6th | Gingrich interview

Posted on 12/06/2011 9:51:35 AM PST by Halfmanhalfamazing

You can read a FULL transcript of this interview HERE

Glenn welcomed the current front-runner for the GOP nomination to the program this morning on radio, and the usually unflappable Newt Gingrich was met with some serious questions about his record on healthcare, global warming, and more.

Glenn started the interview by making it clear that this was not a "gotcha" interview, but that Glenn had "serious concerns" about Newt Gingrich as President. Glenn's producers had made it clear to Newt that tough questions were going to be asked, but he did think that Gingrich is a decent guy.

"I'm asking questions because I truly, deeply care about the country just as much as Newt Gingrich does but we differ on the answers, I believe. I’d like to have him convince me that I'm wrong. I would love to have him convince me that I'm wrong," Glenn said.

On Regulation

Glenn started by playing a piece of audio where Gingrich claimed to be a "Theodore Roosevelt Republican", a political figure in history that Glenn believes is strongly tied to the Progressive movement in history on both sides of the aisle.

-—————but we will feel better about ourselves.——————

No, Rita, I think you’ve convinced me.

Let’s go with Newt, let’s recruit our own big government guy and tell those democrats........... We’ll show them! Our big government guy is better than their big government guy!

Big government forever! :-) Won’t it be great?

See. We showed them.

They will repeal Obamacare because either they do or it will be a short 4 years (or less) for them.

I listened to it carefully and he never really directly answered Glen’s questions.

Newt is a professional politician of the highest order, which means double talk and evading answers by way of starting to answer and somewhere in the middle of said answer changes the subject.

He does it so masterfully and without hesitation most people don’t realize.

-—————Intellectually...Gingrich is a searchlight while Beck is a 15 watt CFL....———————

*shrug*

You’re probably right. Did you listen to the things that Gingrich actually said? Or are you simply employing Alinsky rule #13 so that you don’t have to listen to Gingrich explain his own big government ways?

(#13 pick the target, personalize it, polarize it, freeze it)

I know a little about Teddy Roosevelt.

I’m all on board for looking at Woodrow Wilson, and FDR in terms of their progressiveness and liberalism.

Beck does a historical service by showing TR as a “progressive” but the evidence is not there to turn the great patriot TR into a liberal bum.

Yes TR used the government to break up the trusts. He also rejected crony capitalism when (I think JP Morgan?) offered to have “your man and my man sit down and work this out”.

It was like 1912, not the highly regulated America of 2011. We can’t turn every American president into a bum. If you want to see big govt usurpation of power, probably no one can top Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War.

To me, Newt is Romney with ethics problems (see Fannie $1.6 million). He also runs his mouth too much.

I don’t particularly like Romney but I like Newt even less.

I would vote for either over O.

You’re welcome.

We’re being set up big time. The only two alternatives to Obama are two huge government republicans?

Sorry. Not my vote.

I hope that there’s another shift soon, and either Gingrich or Romney goes down and one of the conservatives rises in the polling. Our nation can’t survive any more years of big government.

Newt is arrogant, quick on his feet, and knows what he knows. I think perhaps people may mistake massive intellect for massive ego in his case.

The absolute worst line from the Beck interview:

GINGRICH: I guess I’m a Theodore Roosevelt Republican

How soon we forget...

JOHN MCCAIN, JUNE 2008: “I count myself as a conservative Republican, yet I view it to a large degree in the Theodore Roosevelt mold,”

T.R. was a PROGRESSIVE, not a "conservative". He introduced big government solutions to America, launched the age of radical environmentalism, and endorsed and cheerleaded EUGENICS, as later brought to perfection by Margaret Sanger ("human weeds") and Adolf Hitler.

Full disclosure requires the acknowledgment that Beck has announced he is backing Michele Bachmann. (Not implying that is a bad thing; but, certainly it's a factor as to why Beck might have a negative impression of Newt.)

I'm never sure what Newt is ...but then I feel the same way about Beck! I do think that Newt can be deliberately misleading at times.

‘Still haven't decide if I can vote for Newt ...I think I can on one day; and then the next day he says something that really troubles me. ARGGGGGHHHH!

“You’re trying to transition into smaller government by also supporting a bill that has in it a gigantic giveaway?” Glenn asked with incredulity.

Yeah. what dim bulb question. Thank goodness the brilliant Newt was able to smack down this silliness with a reasoned response. No wait...Newt said what about gov't mandates?

Glenn played audio from 1993 and 2011, both of which have Newt advocating for the controversial individual mandate for health insurance.“We can go back and we can listen to exactly what I was asked on that show and what I said I stand by, which is in a free society, you don’t elect officials to impose on you things that you disagree with,” Gingrich fired back. ,

——I can’t hold out for the “perfect conservative” but I can go with someone that can be brought along.-——————

You’re not being asked to wait for the perfect conservative. But you should be willing to support *a* conservative. To this, Newt and Mitt do not apply.

And if Newt can’t be brought along during the primaries, he can’t be in the white house either. This interview makes it clear that he has not been brought anywhere. He is big government.

—————Romney is so entrenched in his Liberalism that he would sell us out within his first week whereas Newt will seek out ways to work with us.-—————

Based on what? He went live on national radio, today, as a GOP presidential candidate, and professed his love for big government.

What evidence is there that Newt will work with us?

(You’re dead on accurate about Romney, BTW)

Newt is a converter. He can take Marxist approaches to problem solving and twist those approaches into a pretzel suitable for a conservative outcome, and solve the problem. Conservatives have been framed as devoid of giving a rip whether the poor and destitute even have healthcare, outside of the bus station approach offered by modern emergency rooms providing endless wait times and plenty of chaos. The result is soaring healthcare costs.

Newt is unafraid to address the Marxist framed debate raging against us, and stare down the facts at hand. What other candidate gives a rip that something does have to give on treating the poor? We are increasing the number of poor and one way or the other some Republicans are about to be among that increasing number.

Perry? The more I read on his positions, the more I find to respect and agree with. And he’s been my governor for over a decade.

Newt claims to be a conservcative but his knee jerk reaction to ANY problem is some government action. How is that conservative???

that is it in a nutshell. Every problem, and I mean EVERY problem Newt sees always involves big government solutions.

I cannot site one example where Newt just says, get the government out and let the market work.

AGW is one of my biggest issues and on that issue alone Newt CANNOT let go of his believe in man-made global warming. I read Newt's own words and hear him speak -- he truly "believes" carbon loading is an issue.

No one can site even one example where Newt explicitly states that he accepts that there is widespread fraud in the AGW crowd.

Newt is always looking for "grand" problems with big government solutions.

With that said, I would still vote for Newt over Mitt. However, Newt would not turn our Republic towards Liberty.
