Glenn’s revealing interview with Newt Gingrich ( Newt is a progressive )
Glenn Beck ^ | December 6th | Gingrich interview

Posted on 12/06/2011 9:51:35 AM PST by Halfmanhalfamazing

You can read a FULL transcript of this interview HERE

Glenn welcomed the current front-runner for the GOP nomination to the program this morning on radio, and the usually unflappable Newt Gingrich was met with some serious questions about his record on healthcare, global warming, and more.

Glenn started the interview by making it clear that this was not a "gotcha" interview, but that Glenn had "serious concerns" about Newt Gingrich as President. Glenn's producers had made it clear to Newt that tough questions were going to be asked, but he did think that Gingrich is a decent guy.

"I'm asking questions because I truly, deeply care about the country just as much as Newt Gingrich does but we differ on the answers, I believe. I’d like to have him convince me that I'm wrong. I would love to have him convince me that I'm wrong," Glenn said.

On Regulation

Glenn started by playing a piece of audio where Gingrich claimed to be a "Theodore Roosevelt Republican", a political figure in history that Glenn believes is strongly tied to the Progressive movement in history on both sides of the aisle.

After giving this some thought....there is a damn good chance, if you read the news, that we won’t have a choice in who we vote for, won’t even be an election. Obama, the sleeper, has everthing aligned. Unstable economy and high unemployment creates dependency on the government, radical islamists in power in the ME, class warfare creating his own civilian army made up of private & public unions, OWS, illegals, blacks and other minorities ready to explode, SB 1827, creating immediate martial law and the list goes on. Go ahead, refuse to vote for a moderate Republican, because the day might come when you would give anything for just a chance to vote for Newt Gingrich.

And he says he's a Roosevelt republican, yet anything I've ever read about Teddy Roosevelt is that he was a big government guy.

TR was a big government guy.

I'm more certain of my vote for Perry than ever.

“Unfortunately I would vote for a ham sandwich if it got Obama out of office.”

I’d even sink to a can of pork and beans! Never been so desperate for a decent candidate.

A correct assurtion.

In Beck’s defense, he has many good ideas and exposes many absurdities, but often he slides from rational to the often “sky is falling” rant.

Beck is also too often only looking for a pure Christ-like conservative, who has to agree with Beck.

Whether Teddy was good for America or was no different from his later cousin FDR, is arguable, with little chance of ever determining Teddy’s fact from fiction.

We are faced with totally different circumstances and situations than Teddy lived in. More than possibly any time in our history, we stand at the edge of loosing both our freedom and America. Our two best chances to remove nobama are though Newt or Mitt and I trust Newt significantly more to do the MOST right things to reverse our long and gradual losses.

No matter how “pure” Bachmann or Santorim are in some minds, they stand less chances than does Ron Paul (who has no chance).

They did not mean the same reforms. Nonetheless. Nancy and Newt have this in common: they want BIG solutions and THEY want to initiate them.

Glenn is totally pro Israel (unlike Paul) and most certainly doesn’t think we brought 9-11 on ourselves (Paul does). He isn’t for drug legalization (Paul is).

He likes Paul on some financial issues and some constitutional issues, only.

The sooner Newt gets out of the way, the better.

That's not how politics works.

Newt wants the GOP nomination and he will get it unless someone else gets more votes than him.

So who is it that you prefer to Newt and who you think can win more primary votes than Newt?

If Newt can’t handle twenty minutes with Glenn Beck, how’s he gonna fare when Obama opens the bank accounts and lets loose with the heavy artillery?

"but he did boost the economy in the nineties"

Misplaced nostalgia. Newt "boosted" the economy like thugs "boost" hubcaps. He led the charge for NAFTA, amnesty and MFN status for China. He declared open warfare on the US middle class, and won. It took 3-4 yrs for the effects to really start setting in, but the US job market - and the real economy behind it, have never really been the same. How anyone who's ever worked for a paycheck could rationalize voting for Newt is beyond me.

I feel the same way and will vote for Newt if he is the nominee but the man is getting me sick the more i learn about him. Glenn did this country a great service. I want Bachmann as the entire media detests her. This means she is a good candidate as the media only wants the most progressive candidates to win.

I listened to it carefully and he never really directly answered Glen’s questions.

__________

That’s what I’ve been saying. I don’t hate Newt..and yes, he can throw words out there like a blue streak..but does he ever really answer the question that he was asked? Rarely.

No one is denying that Newt is more clever than the average bear. Clinton is clever, too. Hitler and Stalin - smart guys!

The problem with Newt is that he is full of socialist ideas to improve on Marxist ideas that liberals demand in government. He does not consider scrapping any part of the current monster that is choking the nation and the economy. The reason he does not support that is he knows the American people (voters) would never allow it to happen. They will tolerate reform of current operations; not cutting out any agency or major program.

This is the same stalemate conservatives always reach. Libertarians are always mad about it; but they don’t have the a strong majority in the pulbic to target any part of the Federal government for elimination. Espeically not social security. From a political point of view, cutting social security was the stupidest idea for budget cutting Cantor could have picked to launch his effort to balance the budget.

Gingrich isn't perfect - none of these candidates are, and I'm beginning to think that expecting the GOP to produce one is a pipe dream. But I'm sure he'll be more right than wrong on most issues. Let's not kid ourselves, the mess in DC will not be turned around overnight, and one GOP president won't be able to get it all done. It will take a succession of GOP presidencies to get this country headed in the right direction, which means conservatives need to be engaged like they haven't been before. We've mostly let the Left do their damage to this country over the past several decades, but this can't be the case going forward.

Yes, the next republican president will repeal Obamacare. That is political reality.

you say: “It all depends on who he surrounds himself with.

How’s this for starters?

http://dailycaller.com/2011/02/25/gingrich-says-allen-west-would-be-considered-as-his-running-mate/

Gingrich wouldn’t install Establishment Ivy League-ers as Reagan was pretty much forced into - starting with papa Bush - for all positions. He also couldn’t fulfill one of his key campaign promises: dismantle the dept of Ed.

Even as hamstrung as he was, he managed to accomplish so much.

If Newt can by-pass those pressures (and I think he can as he has built strong ties and knows all the players and ins & outs in DC) and appoint HIS choices, and I think he can/will, 8 yrs of Newt/West and then 8 years of West/Palin? (9 yrs from now, Palins kids will be grown ) and then 8 yrs of Palin/? - We could have 24 yrs of the WH - that would sink the Socialists into a 100 year oblivion
