President Obama's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) outlined an "environmental justice strategy" that would review how a variety of DHS activities, from interaction with local governments to granting regulatory permits, affect poor and minority populations. DHS defines environmental justice as "the commitment of the Federal Government . . . to avoid placing disproportionately high and adverse effects on the human health and environment of minority populations and low-income populations." Efforts to implement environmental justice will influence "our own operations, financial assistance to state and local governments, and [DHS'] regulatory permitting activities," DHS explained in the draft strategy.

Another department to just get rid of.
I just read the article. Good grief! It reads like a Communist Manifesto. It is a broad brushed justification for income redistribution to minorities in every context. This is one of the most alarming things yet to come from Obammunism.
Your tagline nails it. The largess greed exists within the halls of big govt. It’s a fact, get yourself elected to Congress is a get rich quick ponzi scheme. That we allow them to investigate themselves is unforgivable.
It’s way pass time to divorce the big centralized govt in DC. It has been abusing us for over a century.
If a man beats his wife, he rightfully goes to jail. But if big govt beats it’s pawns into submission, just challenge it, and, you will be compromised, or go to jail. Don’t forget, they have about a million plus laws to get you. Speaking of which, I think I have a toilet not up to code. Gotta get it fixed. On it now.
If it moves regulate it. If it turns a profit, destroy it.
What can be done to get rid of this marxist takeover. An phrase staring with any word followed by “justice” is marxist crap.
Social justice, economic justice, and now environment justice????
It’s marxist crap and it’s making me sick and angry.
I need to look at the latest Cheaper than Dirt cataglogue again.
Maybe the particulates contribute to differences in severity of outbreaks, but that alone should not make the condition exist in the first place. People who do not have asthma may be irritated by particulates and ozone, but that won't give them asthma, only exacerbate an existing condition.
So here's my theory, fwiw.
Back when I smoked, every time I walked into a doctor's office, they were trying to give me another one of those inhalers. Hang the fact I was there for a respiratory tract infection, it seemed like they wanted me to accept a diagnosis of some lung disorder so they could have me buying these inhalers on a regular basis. Eventually I had a bunch of them, (shame on me) sitting in a box, before i threw them out.
It also dawns on me , that aside from what may be a drug company push to sell these things, that poor people in the welfare system get their healthcare from the taxpayer, and that if they can rack up a disability, they get a bigger check, and the caseworkers get more work.
Which is leading which, here?
For that matter, do poor people have a disproportionately high rate of ADHD, "Depression", etc., other exploitable 'disabilities' which can lead to more money from Uncle Sugar?
Humanity has lived in dirt, distraction, and misery for the majority of its existence. Soot and nasty chemicals were present (not to mention pathogens) in any concentration of humans, and we have survived. It seems odd to me that within the short span of a generation or so we have become so sensitive to the environmental grunge we have cohabited with for so long.
