Romney a potential running mate, says Gingrich
CNN ^ | 2011-12-07

Newt Gingrich has at least one name on his list of potential running mates: GOP rival Mitt Romney.

"I think Mitt Romney is a very admirable person, and I'm not going to pick a fight with Mitt Romney," Gingrich said in an interview Wednesday with CNN's Wolf Blitzer.

When asked if he would ever ask Romney to be his vice presidential nominee, Gingrich didn't mince words.

"I think the consensus is that he'd certainly be on the list, whether he'd want to or not," Gingrich said. "He's a very competent person. This is a very serious man. I would certainly support him if he became the Republican nominee."

A CNN headline with quotes from someone who refuses to badmouth other Republicans and refuses to be baited into doing so by the media.

That some here believe it would actually happen is comical to me. But whatever...night all. Enough politics for one day.

Newt is a scumbag. I will heartily enjoy watching him crash and burn. The sooner the better.

Ain't it sad how all these political junkies here can be taken in so easily

Newt is a saint. Now that he’s Catholic, there is actually a chance.

I think the feedback is important, even if this is just a trail balloon statement. If it’s a backhanded slap, it’s still not something to toss around light, Romney is poison.

You’re right. He should have said “No effin’ way will I let that dirty Mormon anywhere near Washington once I’m elected. He’s scum. I hate him. How can you even ask such a question”.

Cause that wouldn’t have stirred things up at all. Some of you people are laughable. Your agendas are showing. Oops!

"I think the consensus is that he'd certainly be on the list, whether he'd want to or not," Gingrich said.

This is a brilliant political ploy. Newt stays above the fray while keeping the 11th commandment in tact. Newt’s too shrewd to think that Mitt would help the ticket.

I'm with you. I want Republicans attacking Obama, not each other. On the short list of attacks should be what is going on with MF - that is a national scandal. Over $1 billion stolen and nary a mention in our banana republic media.

Witness the deathknell of the Republican Party. The GOP is determined to lose in 2012.

So once they take office, which name will they use to rename Obamacare?
Gingrichcare? Or Romneycare?

exactly. Newt is being the gentleman still, not picking on the other GOP candidates. He is keeping his focus on the enemy: Obama. What ‘nasty’ thing can Romney say to him now for saying this?

Newt would never ask Romney to run with him, and likely none of the other candidates either.

Exactly right. He was not going to take the bait and attack another Republican. He has pretty much been steadfast on that point and was the sole Republican candidate that I can remember who came out and supported Herman Cain. He is not going to have Mitt as VP. Now I do like Mitts choice of John Bolton as Secretary of State.
