Newt Can't Win
newtcantwin.com/ ^ | 12/13/2011 | John Ziegler

So, there are others who question Newt's viability. Apparently, Glenn isn't the only one. Even Rush brought attention to Newt's praise of Andy Stern.

Like Herman, perhaps where there's smoke, there may be fire.

Like Herman? Really? All I saw was smoke created quite possibly by the GOP itself.

I don’t think he can either. The media is holding its fire now but will eat his lunch when the time is right. (about the time he makes the traditional move to the center after winning the nomination)

Of course he can’t ...

he’s a moderate, elitist talking like a conservative.

Two years ago he aligned himself with Mitt, Jeb, McCain, Cantor, McConnell, Blunt, Thune, Kyl, Cornyn, Hutchinson, et al, to “remake the GOP.”

IMHO, Newt will end up endorsing Mitt.

http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/republican-party/gingrich-to-be-a-public-face-of-cantors-effort-to-remake-gop/

Gingrich Joins Cantor’s Effort To Remake GOP

Newt Gingrich has joined Eric Cantor’s new effort to remake the GOP for the future, a Cantor spokesperson confirms.

“Speaker Gingrich will be joining the National Council for a New America as one of the members of our national panel of experts,” Cantor spokesperson Joe Pounder tells me, confirming a Chris Cillizza item based on anonymous sources.

“It is generally recognized that Speaker Gingrich is a man who’s putting forth bold ideas in the party,” Pounder continues. “It’s only natural that he would join an organization that seeks to apply conservative principles to everyday challenges. That’s what Speaker Gingrich has been doing for the past couple of years.”

Cantor’s group has taken some hits from Mike Huckabee and other conservatives who argue that the group has de-emphasized social issues in an effort to rebrand the GOP at the expense of social conservatives. Rush Limbaugh slammed the group as a “scam.”

(snip)

Here's guessing Ziegler won't have a problem finding a taker for his $10,000 bet if Newt is the nominee.

You know it’s Willard Romney who can’t win. But if he does we’re stuck with an northern liberal RINOfrom Mass, and he’s a Mormon to boot. Doesn’t anyone find that troublesome. I sure do.

I won't say Newt can't win.
But I will say that anyone who thinks he won't get the Sarah Palin treatment, in spades, is incredibly naive, IMO.

One more time, there is NO CENTER.

Candidates who think there is a center, and "move to it" are actually just getting involved with the "fringe", and that's not enough voters to make a difference.

What they have to do is RETAIN THEIR BASE and seek to DETACH A FACTION OR PART OF A FACTION from the other party.

Not really ~ he's simply a lot like Henry Cabot Lodge. As we recall from our ancient history it was the Nixon/Lodge ticket that LOST against the Kennedy/Johnson ticket.

There we had two of these guys on the ticket, and possibly JFK was the most Conservative one in the crowd. He wanted to cut income taxes!

Of course, we’re supposed to believe Ziegler because he accurately picked the outcome of the 2000, 2004 and 2008 elections. Of course, so did I and millions of others...
