Day late!

Home Depot stopped ordering 100 watt bulbs in October.
Who knows when G.E. stopped making them?

Sounds like a market opportunity. Maybe we should pool our money and open a light bulb plant quick?

GE was one of the big “pushers” of the Curly Fry Lightbulbs because they stood to make a lot of money on their sale.

Everyone should know that that $2 CFL that you buy is subsidized by another $25 of your own tax money.

Not to worry.

Mexico will begin manufacturing light bulbs soon.

...and they'll explode when you switch them on.

Why would GE care?

Why make and sell cheap incandescents for a buck when you can sell mercury-poisoned fluorescent for $4.50?

I would not be surprised if GE was BEHIND this in the first place. Everyone was making the cheap bulbs. Very few (like GE) can make the new ones.

It's kind of like Freon (CFC’s)

You make the single best coolant in the world, and the patent is about to expire, so everyone can start making it. This would cost you BILLIONS in profits... so you spend a few millions on ‘green’ environment wacko causes to get your own product banned- and oh look! we make a substitute.

Never mind that the substitute is much more caustic, far more damaging to the ‘environment’, and far less efficient (remember when you used to be able to make ice cubes in your car's air conditioning? - not any more)

Mexico always makes them that’s where they come from. Obozo will just have the them banned by regulation.

“Who knows when G.E. stopped making them?”

The last US GE light bulb factory in Winchester, Virginia shut down about a year ago.

200 American jobs lost. No doubt if stores start carrying the bulbs again they will be imported from Mexico or China. Thanks Congress.

I know of at least one GE plant that has already shut down. So, now I guess Mexico can make them and export them to us. Makes sense to America haters.

Right. It won’t matter if we still have the ‘right’ to purchase the 100 watt bulbs....if they are no longer available TO purchase.

As usual, the Rep Congress has failed us....

miserably...by doing way too little...and way too late.

Fire Boehner for a good start!

“..Who knows when G.E. stopped making them?..”

Surely you don’t buy from that leftwing GE. The Lighthouse for the blind, Phillips, Sylvania OK.

More pertinent to the topic though is the super hardball that the mighty GOP is playing. Boy are they tough sons-a-guns. Betcha Obama and Dingy Hairy shake in their boots every day. This light bulb business was by far the most important obstruction they could throw in the path of the libs./s

That late? I'm amazed.

The good part is Zero gets to choose between pissing off his base by signing or pissing off the country by not signing.
