“And the rest went where ?????”

Excuse me, but that’s stupid... 10 years ago I was the president and ceo of a start-up software company that grossed 500K a year. My paycheck was 3K a month.

Well clearly some of us make too much then... Perhaps you can advise us all on what we should make? Perhaps you can also advise on how best to spread the wealth from some of us who make too much according to you?

Seriously re-read what you said... if this is truly what you believe you may belong at Huffington post, expressing thoughts on how some people make more than you and it’s not fair...

Your ratio is completely bogus. The reality is we should pay for the skill. The mail-room boy has been replaced by email, the shipping person outsourced to a company who can provide it for the least cost.

Consultants provide value for their time. If they do not they don’t get retained further... however on the other hand... our supreme leader commands $25k for a plate of dinner and provides negative value... for it’s time you can’t ever get back...

I’d suggest if you don’t make more than $35k/year, you need to change what you are doing. Granted if you are fixed income, disabled, SSI etc... well then that is another issue, whole other thread on that.

Newt owns the consulting form and he gets 35k if 1.6 mil?

I don’t believe it.
I make more than that on a contract that size as a low level peon.

There can be no better candidate than Newt Gingrich. Believe me. And to the posters that disagree they are attack liberals that know if Newt is the man he will dislodge King Obama, the communists black Muslim.

Do the math, 35,000 X 9 years = 315,000 (this is close to what they had claimed in the beginning and then changed it by adding what the companies received.)

So... 1,285,000 / by 3 companies= 428,333 / 9 years = 47,593 a year.

Now does it look like a “sweetheart” deal?

THIS is a sham and those attacking Newt now it!

There is a big difference (to me) in a private company paying a consultant paying for advise and a public (or at least quasi-public) company paying a former politician a “consulting fee.”

Freddie and Fannie have a long history of having politicians (mostly Dems) on the payroll. And amazingly, they have never had significant oversight. Result: I think we are at $150 billion in taxpayer and counting.

I have not heard anything about Newt supporting the reforms Bush was pushing around 2003-2004. All the Dems opposed the proposed reforms and Repubs were unwilling to push it. Where was Newt??

I am confident that his companies made MORE than that by consulting many more companies then Freddie Mac. Which means he made MORE than just 35,000 a year from his companies.

So you made as much as Newt on a 30th of the receipts.

.....”The allegations against him are clearly on the minds of Iowa voters. During the town hall Monday, one voter asked about the Freddie Mac contract. Republican rivals have accused Gingrich of profiting from his former position as speaker and, in effect, lobbying members of Congress.

Gingrich replied that he flubbed his initial response to questions about his work for the organization. “What we should have done … is stopped, pulled together everything, and I should have had a much more coherent answer,” he said.”.....

Why in the world are so-called conservatives ATTACKING one-another? I have a suggestion for you... go start a business, hire 30 people who work for you. Pay their wages, benefits, and retirement... Then see how much “Profit” you’ll claim on your taxes.

These games of our politics are just destroying our chances. Fight on the topics of government and policy! What a company or individual has made as a private Citizen... how is this relevant at all? Government retains consultants all the time.

So... Who cares about what Newt Did or Didn’t make! Why does that matter! Talk about policy, budget, fiscal matters and how to grow the economy. What matters to me is what he positioned for while a consultant. Did he try to position a free home for all? What was he advocating? That matters.

I’m on the fence regarding a candidate but I can tell you all this. Those candidates that resort to this type of tactic won’t get a cent of my money. I want leadership not High School drama.

Shame on the candidates doing this attack style on their so called “friends”.

I want to hear the foreign policy strategy, the investment strategy, the education policy, the energy policy, the private market strategy etc. Why don’t we just compare these things?

Are you forgetting that this is a conservative site that has little respect for class envy and that appreciates those who use their education and skill to enrich themselves legally? If you want class envy, the Dems have your perfect candidate.

A mail boy, or any menial labor employee, is useless now-a-days compared to a CEO whose vision drives the company, which employs hundreds and thousands of people.

Newt never lobbied, was never registered as a lobbyist. The amount of money he earned as a consultant was clearly explained on Greta and other sites. Bachmann, Paul and Romney would LIE to win the presidency by twisting facts. Romney should relase his financial disclosure forms on Bain but has refused to do so...

So will everyone who has a mortgage backed by Freddie and Fannie (which is a large number (%) of people with a mortgage); also be “tainted”?

This nation is quickly becoming ungovernable with all of this nonsense.

[ Gingrich says he personally made 35K from Freddie Mac ]

Thats the way to handle this charge.. “accounting”..

The million bucks didnt come to nOOt it came to some consulting firm..
SO is it with several TRILLION bucks a year..
Thrown down a bureaucratic black hole..

The States send say a $1000 dollars to Washington D.C. and D.C. sends back 100 dollars..
$900 dollars just disappears..

Its like “The little house of horrors”.. “FEED ME” the federal government says..
I’m voting for the meanest son of a b!tch I can find.. as President this time..

No Michele Bachmans or Sarah Palins.. or Romneys..
Its Ron, Rick or nOOt for me.. I really prefer G. Gordon Liddy..
