Europe has not had to pay for its defense since WWII, as such, there is really only 1 nation in Europe with a standing army of any relevance and that’s Britain.
How do you think they had the $$ to pay for all their socialist nonsense? They have lived under our protection, none have any sort of army that could defend their borders in an open conflict anymore.

Yes, and that's a good thing. Our government will default at all levels (thanks to lack of manufacturing and crazy government spending), and Europeans have no honest business regarding our domestic policies.

In two out of three of these we did stay home. As for Libya, while I was for intervening, I was completely against the unconstitutional way in which we did it. That said I think it could turn out pretty good. As I said, armed revolutions are a tricky thing and you never can predict how they will utlimtately turn out. The key is in all of these is that we better be involved in the post revolution phase. With Obama, I'm not sure we are fully engaged on that level. Though I did like to see Panetta visiting Libya. That's a good sign IMO.
