I should think so. 10k is such an arbitrary number...what about the 8000 voters that actually signed real petitions? If they end up on the ballot this will turn out be a blessing in disguise, as there is no such thing as bad press.

.......People in Virginia are abuzz with the news that Rick Perry’s and Newt Gingrich’s names will not appear on the primary ballot. There will be only two candidates for whom to vote: Ron Paul and Mitt Romney. Write-ins are not allowed in the Virginia primary. The Virginia GOP, which is responsible for verifying signature petitions, is going to catch a lot of flak over this, since this is the first year the signatures have been fully verified - by either the DNC or the RNC. This is also the first year that the voting rolls have been computerized, so it was not as painstaking to verify signatures in previous years. Also noteworthy, though, is that this is the first year the strict rules for getting on the ballot are going to be enforced. Ever since the Dems changed the rules in 1999 to make it harder to get on the ballot, the rules have not been enforced. In fact, the DNC has given waivers to its candidates who did not obtain enough signatures. I would not want to be manning the RNC phones this week.

I am in a wait-and-see mode, Kevin. There is no doubt the RPV is in tight with the elitist Republicans. The Lt. Gov. of Virginia is Romney’s campaign chair and personally delivered his petitions. No judge in Virginia is appointed due to legal accument or adherence to the U.S. or State Constitutions - they are appointed based on their efforts to get the appointer elected. From what I have been able to glean from research, the minimum number is signatures is 10,000 with at least 400 signatures from each of the 11 districts. BUT, if you turn in over 15,000 signatures, they are not verified. Romney and Paul did. ..... Romney started collecting signatures this past summer. Ron Paul started gathering signatures in September. Bachmann, Santorum, and Huntsman did not even try to get on the ballot in Virginia. Perhaps it is not a battleground state after all.

.....I live in Virginia. Everyone is making a big deal about Newt, but the Perry situation is also noteworthy. Jerry Kilgore, his Va. campaign manager, is a former Va. Attorney General (2001-2005), also ran for governor in 2005 but lost to Democrat Tim Kaine. He should have known, and paid close attention.

That said, the GOP looks bad with this…and have made Va. irrelevant in the primaries. Many people will stay home and not vote if the choices are Romney and Paul. The establishment ignores the fact that McCain got as “many” votes as he did because of Sarah on the ballot – without her, his loss would have been far greater. IOW, we’re not just going to go for Romney…

I am at my end with the GOP, Jim. If Romney is forced down out throats, just like ObamaCare was...we need to stick a boot up the arse of the GOP.

The day the 12 election is over, it is time for the Teaparty to turn into the Tea Party. Not a Third Party...a construction of the Tea Party and destruction of the Republican Party. It is no longer a useful conservative conduit.

I would expect a maneuver like this from a Soviet Socialist Republic, not from the GOP of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Between this and the near unanimous GOP punditry supporting Romney, we can’t deceive ourselves any longer.

Same here-the Republican elite is going to choke on this sh*t sandwhich they're trying to shove down out throats when staunch conservatives-true conservatives, on both the fiscal and social fronts-just stay home or vote only the rest of the ticket come this election. They did this cr*p last time with, using Palin as a sweetener. I won't go for it again, ever again, no matter who is the VP pick. It's only been exceptional VPs anyway who have had any real influence on direction and policy. They better hope they get all those "moderate" (wishy-washy fence-sitter) votes they're angling for, because they're going to lose a mighty lot of conservatives, including me. Who cares which "team" pushes the nation into the downward spiral of socialism and big brotherism? That only matters to them, for their own reasons of personal ambition.

I have read this entire thread up to this point.

I'm more nauseated by the current crop of RINO GOP candidates than I have been for the last five POTUS election cycles.
Romney and/or Gingrich = an Obama re-election.
Paul (who has never been a Republican, and has always been a libertarian) = an Obama re-election.

If the GOP candidate is one of the above, I WILL vote third party, or write in.
If these people are the “best candidates” the GOP can offer, what does it really matter?
This nation is screwed.

Here a couple of weeks later it's pretty clear that this was, in fact, the first time the Republican Party in Virginia EVER checked addresses against names ~ and it was primarily for the purpose of disqualifying Perry and Gingrich and helping Romney.

To get the best postage rate your typical mailing addresses for STANDARD RATE and FIRST-CLASS MAIL are run against electronic data files indicating forwarding to a new address.

These files are updated at regular intervals ~ "daily". However, for mailing purposes when you make a mailing you lock into a specific date just in case there's some downstream problem that might cost you more money.

This makes it remarkably easy to kill three birds with one stone: 1. Get lowest presort rates, 2. Avoid wasting money on preparing mail that wouldn't get to the delivery address anyway, and 3. REMOVE OLD ADDRESSES and REPLACE THEM WITH NEW ADDRESSES.

It's pretty obvious that first benefit and the second benefit are highly important to local governments hard pressed by lower property tax revenues. Political parties probably don't care for the third benefit since it automatically REMOVES the dead and those who've moved away from the file of those who get new voter ID cards (where that system is used).

That system can also remove welfare cheats from the local files and make substantial savings.

This process cannot indicate which New York residents should be removed from Florida voter registration files, but they probably file forwarding orders twice a year ~ once to Florida in November, and once to New York in April. Since you have access to the entire log of postal forwarding orders when you use these systems there's no reason PROBABLE DUPLICATES can't be identified and arrests made (particularly in Florida). Maybe a Republican Governor would be interested in doing that (hint, wink, hint hint, wink wink).

Since this particular thread is fairly large with many regular FREEPERS posting on it Google.com will be belching it up at the top of the list when someone asks for information on VOTE, FRAUD, FAST FORWARD, NEW YORK, FLORIDA ~ which ought to do the trick I think.
