A proposal that would require adult film actors to use condoms has qualified for the June ballot after proponents gathered enough signatures to put the issue before Los Angeles voters.
Proponents gathered more than 70,000 signatures, exceeding the 41,000 required to place the issue on the ballot, according to AIDS Heathcare Foundation spokesman Ged Kenslea. The signatures were certified last week by the LA City Clerk.

Why would LA voters care about this?
Plus the movie producers can just go somewhere else if the vote goes against them.

And I’d bet most of those people expect the law to result in condoms being used rather than films being made somewhere else (with associated loss of taxes and related business activity like buying lunch)

A lot of the actresses frequent the CVS in Newhall. Every 3rd or 4th trip there I’ll see one or two. They don’t try and hide it either, very scantily dressed.

I had a friend who went to The Master’s College and when we would go hang out at Starbuck’s we’d see these people. She told me about the whole industry thing and it was really a big surprise to me that it was so concentrated in that town. I imagine some of the ‘actors’ also work at Magic Mountain. I’ve often wondered what happens when they get recognized in public or at their regular jobs?
