Today's Rasmussen Iowa Poll Shows Margins Narrowing Among GOP Candidates
The Cypress Times ^ | December 29, 2011 | Ethan Edwards

DES MOINES, IA - Every day a new poll measuring the standings of the GOP presidential contenders in Iowa is released. On Thursday, December 29, 2011 Rasmussen shows the latest numbers compiled from a telephone survey of likely GOP caucus participants.

Mitt Romney is now in a statistical tie at the top of the poll with Texas Congressman Ron Paul. Romney comes in with 23% support compared to Paul’s 22%.

Rick Santorum (16%) is now in a three-way statistical tie for third place with both former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (13%) and Texas Governor Rick Perry (13%). Gingrich’s numbers have been slipping for the past two weeks while Santorum took a big jump in the standings just this week.

The poll was conducted on December 28, 2011 by Rasmussen Reports among 750 likely Republican Caucus Participants and has a margin of error of +/- 4 percentage points.

Each daily poll is showing Romney maintaining his support at around 25% to 22%, the same range he has been in for the past six years during his ongoing campaign for the GOP nomination. Despite incessant proclamations of Romney victory from every mainstream media source on the planet and from all the GOP elite, Ron Paul has been surging over the past few days. Newt Gingrich is dropping fast and both Santorum, and Perry are on the rise.

One thing is certain there will more polls out tomorrow.

The Iowa caucus will be held on January 3, 2012.

Perry Calls Santorum Earmark Addict....""Rick Santorum is a friend and I've got great respect for him but when he talks about fiscal conservatism every now and then it kind of leaves me scratching my head," Perry said during a campaign stop in Washington, Iowa.

"I love Iowa pork but I hate Washington pork, and Senator Santorum, he loaded up his bills with Pennsylvania pork. He said in 2009 I'm very proud of my earmarks, I put them in my bills and I will defend earmarks. Well Senator Santorum, I'm going to give you that opportunity because earmarks are the gateway drug to the spending habits they have in Washington, DC."...

I recall 2008 and where I lived then had Ron Paul signs everywhere. And then Obama came to town and his signs hit everywhere.I watched McCain/Palin signs get removed and replaced with Obama’s.America is truly sick of politics and Washington this is why Paul has appeal.I guess they will overlook that Paul acts like a loon.I hope Perry and Santorum all move up and pick a female for VP- for the win.

The case for Perry’s venture capitalismThere’s a big difference between the Texas and statist approaches - There has been a lot of debate about Gov. Rick Perry’s economic development funds. The criticism centers on the idea that the Texan’s funds create a “Solyndra problem” for him, that by investing in businesses that bring jobs to the state, Mr. Perry has the same job-creation approach President Obama displayed in backing federal loans to a solar-energy firm.

Equating the two men in this way provides a convenient symmetry, but it’s also a false comparison that misses why many free marketers are comfortable with Gov. Perry even while critical of Solyndra.”……

Perry Wins IPad and IPhone Vote (We CAN take on China and win!)…….”While the rest of the country has been suffering from Obama-itis (too much government regulations and power hungry unionism), Texas has been trying to make itself attractive to business (by limiting regulations, empowering free work rules, limiting frivolous lawsuits, educating ALL its people, limiting taxes) Which brings me back to the IPad and IPhone. As many of you know (well, at least the tech-knowledgeable among us), the brains of the IPAD and IPhone is the A5 chip. These chips are now made in Texas in a new $3.6 Billion facility. How big is this new facility? Well, to put it in terms any Texan would understand: Nine football fields. This is a major facility:

The A5 chip inside Apple’s iPad 2 and iPhone 4S is now being produced stateside (In Texas), according to Reuters. Sources familiar with Apple’s production details told the news organization that Samsung Electronics is now handling production of the A5 in Austin, Texas. Among manufactured products, the state’s leading export category is chemical manufactures, which accounted for $38.4 billion (20 percent) of Texas’ total merchandise exports in 2008. Other top 2008 manufactured exports were computers and electronic products ($35.2 billion), machinery manufactures ($27.3 billion), and petroleum and coal products ($25.3 billion).”…….

CALIFORNIA: …..“Texas Gov. Rick Perry has become a folk hero for people like Stewart as he's marketed his state as a low-cost and business-friendly alternative to California, which is fertile job-hunting ground for Perry.

Texas has added 929,000 jobs since 2001, while California has lost approximately 635,000 manufacturing jobs in that same time, Stewart said.

Answering questions after his speech, Stewart told the story of Perry sending programmed cellphones to CEOs in California with a simple message: "If you're interested in growing your business, please call me. I'm here to help."

"They're doing something right down there," Stewart said of what he dubs the "Texas miracle." "Gov. Perry will go anywhere, any time, to try to recruit companies into Texas."

Perry has taken the state's regulatory process and managed it himself, Stewart said………

[CA Economic Development Corporation President Mark] Lascelles emphasized that it does no good to belabor California's regulatory environment.

"Unfortunately, we can't avoid it. We have to deal with it," he said. Source

"Another new measure made tightening air quality permits on the oil and gas industry more difficult. That law, which Perry signed in June, requires the Texas environmental agency to analyze the effect of new regulation on the economy - including how it might hurt a company - before implementation. The economic impact could override the environmental benefit of the new regulation. The new law reflects Perry's contention that global warming is a questionable theory and that regulation always creates an adverse business climate." Perry Slashed Environmental Enforcement in Texas

Rick Perry Scares the Media & Democrats to Death GOP consultant Mark McKinnon says that the editor of a major newspaper told him, "We plan to declare war on Rick Perry and do all in our power to crush him."

Mr. McKinnon was outraged. "No pretense of integrity, professionalism or of unbiased news gathering," he wrote in Investors' Business Daily.

But I doubt he was surprised. This is what the "mainstream" media did to Sarah Palin in 2008, and what likely is in store for anyone Republicans nominate.

But liberals will go after the Texas governor with special venom because he is anti- intellectual, prays in public, takes the Constitution seriously and sometimes carries a handgun, Walter Shapiro wrote in The New Republic.

"It's almost as if Perry's political persona was constructed by bundling together all the fears and phantoms in the left-wing anxiety closet." he said. “…

Yup. That and his retail efforts. He is only getting better and will surprise as he gets his game together. Heck, if a couple gaffes doom him, then this nation is lost.

Palin then Cain then Gingrich. Now some of this group are now supporting Santorum? OMG! My guy, Perry, may not make it but thank God I haven’t felt the necessity to play musical chairs.

Go Perry!!! I’m with you to the end.

Welcome, Mountain Mary.

Can you help me understand why a candidate with no executive experience should head a ticket and one with years and years and years of executive experience should be in a nonexecutive position on the ticket?

Vice Presidents aren’t executives...only if the President can’t serve do they suddenly become one.

And can you help me understand why a military veteran with Captain’s rank should be second on the ticket to someone who never served a day in the military?

Can you help me understand why the Commander in Chief of the Texas National Guard should not be CIC of the United States military but a Rick Santorum should be?

Who removed and replaced those signs -- the people who put the McCain/Palin signs there in the first place, or the BO campaign staff who came to town?

I'm asking this because in 2008 someone told me that BO campaign staffers had been removing and vandalizing the McCain/Palin signs he'd put up on his own property.
