Anonymous Confirms August Hacking Of Military Supply Site
December 30, 2011

Members of the hacking collective Anonymous announced this week that they had breached the database of a military supply Web site earlier this month, reportedly obtaining 14,000 passwords and the credit card information of nearly 8,000 customers in the process.

According to a Thursday article by Chloe Albanesius of PCMag, Anonymous targeted the website, SpecialForces.com, “their customer base is comprised primarily of military and law enforcement affiliated individuals, who have for too long enjoyed purchasing tactical combat equipment from their slick and ‘professional’ looking website.”

Albanesius notes that the attack was carried out by the same hackers who were responsible for the attack on the security firm Stratfor Global Intelligence on Christmas Eve.

Anonymous claims that the SpecialForces.com attack was done to show the group’s support for Bradley Manning, who currently faces charges related to the release of confidential military information to Wikileaks, and the Occupy Wall Street protesters.

A communiqué released by the hackers involved and quoted by Trent Nouveau of TGDaily said, “SpecialForces.com was just no match for our hella wicked black hat voodoo. We were quickly able to break back into the military supplier’s server and steal their encryption keys. We then wrote a few simple functions to recover the cleartext passwords, credit card numbers, and expiration dates to all their customers’ cards. That’s how we roll.”

"White Hats" need to organize and get serious about identifying some of these "Anonymous" members... And then those identities need to be turned over to the Special Operations community. After a few well publicized beatings, I'll bet these "hackers" will give up.

Why can’t we trace these guys? We need to find them, and jail them!

The cowardice and stupidity of these nerds is staggering. Target anyone they decide represents those who protect them, hiding behind their keyboards.

The group needs to be hunted down and put in prison, each one for multiple (thousands) of identity theft and other crimes.

Let them rot in prison with their beloved queer, Bradley Manning.

Specialforces.com is a "military supply site?!"

Is this a joke?

Looks like just another LE/mil junk retailer.

They probably would have gotten more mil names if they’d hacked REI.

Misleading headline.

The hacked site is a commercial business. It has nothing to do with the military being hacked.

Their products just happen to be military oriented.

People and businesses need to take personal responsibility for serious security of their business information.

And what if "Anonymous" works at the behest of Barry's friends against people stocking up on survivalist supplies?

Who says we "can't"? You might be surprised what IS traceable these days. But when you have a president who is Hell-bent on doing as much damage as possible, your hands are tied.

Different issue. I was strictly referring to the headline.

I remember Napolitano saying vets were a terrorist threat. In that context your scenario is possible if not probable.

What have we given up already to "anonymous"? There is a very good possibility that they have penetrated conservative blog sites.

When the spectre arises they may compromise your and my privacy, I say do whatever it takes to nail 'em.

Whilst I have no use for anonymous, this should serve as an important lesson.

Why did this website store Credit Card data?

Why did this website store Credit Card data?

We do not know if they did. First, I do not think we can be sure that what comes from "Anonymous" is valid data; second, they could have penetrated the site and collected creditcard data as it came in over a considerable period of time.

What is really disturbing is that they attacked a commercial business simply because it sold some things that military and police use.

Sort of a "anyone I call an enemy of the people is one, and has no rights" sort of thing.
