Newt Weeps at Iowa Stop

A drastic departure from his usual image as a stoic, policy-drive candidate, Gingrich cried more than once in recalling how even today he still cries when he sings Christmas carols. GOP pollster Frank Luntz asked the tear-evoking question.

"I get teary-eyed everytime we sing Christmas carols," he said, starting to choke up. "My mother sang in the choir and loved singing in the choir. And I don't know if I should admit this, but when I was very young she made me sing in the choir and we had pictures of me at a very young age singing in the choir."

"Maybe, but crying doesn’t work, Newt."

Getting teary eyed is not crying. Crying is making the sounds along with the tears. When is the last time you cried?

I would not be surprised if Luntz told him to “act vulnerable” and human around women voters.

Thanks for getting personal with me.

I’m more like Eleanor Roosevelt. If I cry I go into the bathroom and run water.

And I’m not running for president.

Geez, I didn’t know so many people loved Newt. I thought people were for him because they think he can out debate Obama.

Sorry if I hurt all of your feelings. I just don’t like public crying.

Now if Rick Perry were to cry, I would change my mind.

Yep. This is a game changer. Gingrich is coming back. For once the electorate is able to see that Newt isn’t the villan people have been told so often.

I told Newt he was my hero back in 1997. He was very much affected and humbled by my sentiments. I remember him as someone you could talk about anything under the sun and be comfortable with it. I have never waivered in my support of him as a fellow patriot for the greatness of this nation. His book, To Renew America is as good now as it was then. People will look back at him as one of the architects of America's greatness.

Newt tears up talking about his mother because he is, as I remember him, a true human being.

I see similar patriotic qualities in Governor Rick Perry.

It always warms my heart when I see a man cry, though I don’t know why. I’ve seen some reports that Newt wept (as politico described it), and I think shedding a few tears has a strong effect on people. But the problem with weeping or crying in a townhall full of women just 4 days before the caucuses (when behind in the polls) is that people can react in a variety of ways. Some may find it endearing while others might have the opposite reaction. There may be some who feel sorry for him and vote for Newt, and others might think this is a clever maneuver by Newt to get people to vote for him.

Coupled this recent episode with his latest statement regarding wanting to make Sarah Palin his VP makes me think that Newt will do anything to win: push any button and pull on any heartstrings.

Hey, ...if you sang that off key, it wouldn’t be so funny....

I support Newt.

But I gotta admit, that was funny!

Newt DID NOT state that he wanted Palin for his VP.

He was simply responding to a question by a participant in a tele-townhall meeting.

Caller: If you’re fortunate enough to be nominated, would you consider having Sarah Palin as your running mate?

Gingrich: She is certainly one of the people you would look at. I am a great admirer of hers and she was a remarkable reform governor of Alaska, she’s somebody who I think brings a great deal to the possibility of helping in government and that would be one of the possibilities.

I was basing my comments on this thread: "Gingrich Floats Sarah Palin As Possible Vice President Pick."

O-k. If you read that thread you’ll learn that it was a misleading headline.

Newt did not “float” or “state” his desire to have Palin as his VP running mate.

He responded to a question and basically told the caller that she would be someone to consider.

I watched the video of Newt talking about his loving mamma. He didn't break out in sobs, but his lips trembled and he was wiping away tears.

Newt's mother, Kathleen "Kit" Daugherty gave birth to him when she was 16. She married to Newton Searles McPherson September 12th, 1943 and when she got pregnant, had to leave high school. After the marriage, Big Newt quickly joined the navy. Kit had moved in with the senior McPhersons. "I just lived off his parents," she says. Once Newt was born, she filed for divorce.

I bring you this picture of the Kit to give you a look at the character of women generations ago. It was a day when families stuck together and worked out their problems the best they could. It was a day when the escape route of abortion did not undermine the social fabric that had taken eons to build.

For a good look into the life of Newt, here is a good find. It was a September, 1995 Vanity Fair article called The Inner Quest of Newt Gingrich. I give the link below. Read it. It shows the struggles and difficult challenges for a man who has come so far and has overcome real psychological issues growing up ( I suspect Newt suffers from Asperger's Syndrome). Kit I am sure was a huge factor in Newt's growing up and I understand Newt as a man who would tear up thinking of her. Here is the link:

“I can’t even force myself to click on the vid.”

If you freeze frame it you can see him putting the onion back in his pocket.

Newt has the courage to take on the Left and the Liberal Media unlike any other candidate. If/when he has a debate with Zero, it will truly be 1 against 1+ as the media will be on Zero's side and will have provided the questions ahead of time and the moderator will work overtime to debate Newt and attempt to cover for Zero.
