I had friends with very large houses... and when you went inside, most rooms had NO furniture... every dime they had went into the house...

That’s not too hard to figure out: Interest on the mortgage is deductible, interest on the furniture is not. I’ve seen it lots of times.

I have seen that too, I have never understood why people want to spend every spare dime on a huge house. If you are really wealthy then get the big house and all that goes with it but why do people with relatively small incomes want to look as if they have millions and then eat beans because they spent the money for the T-bone on unused housing space? I will never understand that.
