Ouch: Rick Santorum’s Young Nephew Endorses Ron Paul
Mediaite ^ | 01/05/2012 | Joe Bershad

The young people of today love them some Ron Paul. He's like Kelly Clarkson of GOP candidates. Hell, he's so much like the pop star Kelly Clarkson, she endorsed him. However, until now, many people have attempted to just brush off this youth support as nothing but a bunch of stoners. An endorsement he received today might sting a little more though. It comes from the 19 year old nephew of Rick Santorum.

The nephew, John Garver, wrote a column over at the Daily Caller in which he says Americans should only elect his uncle if they “want another big-government politician who supports the status quo to run our country.” Ooh, that hurts.

RELATED: Rick Santorum: ‘Ron Paul Is Disgusting’

He continues:

“It is because of this inability of status quo politicians to recognize the importance of our individual liberties that I have been drawn to Ron Paul. Unlike my uncle, he does not believe that the American people are incapable of forming decisions. He believes that an individual is more powerful than any group (a notion our founding fathers also believed in).

Ron Paul seems to be the only candidate trying to win the election for a reason other than simply winning the election.”

Popular Tumblrer Stacy Lambe linked to the column saying that he knows Garver’s family and that, in the extended Santorum clan, they are the “black sheep.”

If they weren’t before, they certainly are now.

You can read the rest of Garver’s piece here.

the youth seem to think Ron Paul’s shtick is a new thing.

He just keeps on rolling out the same circus act every election season.

Oh well. My oldest son and his wife whom I love dearly are obummer supporters but that does not change my mind a bit about the need for removing him and the democrat party from power permanently.

I’ve got three lib sisters who absolutely can’t understand why everybody doesn’t love Obama. Two of them are very well-off and can’t seem to comprehend that Obama is opposed to the economic model that made them wealthy. One of my brothers is also way off the left side of the political spectrum. It’s basically me and my older brother who vote conservative.

Have you listened to any teens lately? Five year olds, cats and turnips have more sense.

Hey, he has the right to align himself with a loser. That’s what they do; losers stick together.

Nobody gives a crap what any 19 year old thinks. As you age, you realize more and more just how mind-bogglingly ignorant you were at 19 years old. Combine this with the fact that 19 year olds think they know everything.

Nobody cares. A 19 year old could endorse Lady Gaga for president. Nobody cares.

“Ron Paul is dead on when he speaks of domestic issues, but a total lune when he speaks of foreign affairs.”

Agreed, although I would be more specific: RP’s proposed federal budget should be the starting point for the Republican Party, and the Republican Party should embrace most of his domestic spending ideas.

But on foreign policy and a handful of other matters (some of which are very important), RP sounds like a nut. Even those times when he means well, he sounds like a nut.

I wish we had a logical, truly fiscally conservative, republican candidate. I think we had one until the Cain campaign ended. Darn.

"I really believe Paul’s foreign policy makes him unelectable."

Well maybe you want to launch a grand crusade to rid the world of Islam but I must warn you that is going to be a hard sell. Right now our department of defense (wish we go back to War Department, I liked that name much better) is making plans for big cuts in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Why? Because we are broke, out of money and in deep deep debt. There have been a few threads about all the aircraft being cut and all the ground troops being cut, etc, etc, etc. So given the reality that the USA can no longer afford to police the world let alone roll back the Islamic conquests of Eastern Roman Empire (Constantinople) you might want to reconsider your objection to Pauls' non interventionist foreign policy.

You might find merit in a small honest constitutional federal government. Hey maybe we should give the Constitution a try? If it does not work out we can always go back to huge socialist government over seen by an oligarchy of ruling class elites, just saying.

And further more, I think it is great that 19 year olds are endorsing Ron Paul. It goes to show that Ron Paul has that idealistic bring-it-all-down-man 19 year old mentality. Most 19 year olds want to overthrow the status quo system and impart some form of utopian dream world.
