The only evidence we have that nothing of the sort occured is JV's word.
The evidence that it did occur is Chris' word.
It's a he said - he said situation.
My basis is that experience shows that if a former governor is cold cocked in a public setting, police are called (Chris' story) and a police report is made, we would know about it and would have known in 2006.
To be honest, when I watched the interview I thought Chris looked like a 10 year old that was caught in a white lie and could not back out of it.
I can imagine sometime in the last six years Chris telling this story to a buddy or patron in a bar somewhere and forgetting about it.
I can also imagine this third person passing the story on to the interviewer who then cornered Chris in the interview.
In other words, I don't believe Chris and have written this off as another of those quirky news bits one hears and is quickly forgotten.
There is no objective evidence whatsoever that this ever happened.
If Ventura refused to file a complaint, and there were no witnesses that were willing to stand up and write out a witness statement, there would be no police report, and this would not have made the news, regardless of who Ventura use to be. Considering that this SEAL shared this event on a radio show, it’s not likely that it was simply a brag made to a buddy in a bar after several drinks. We probably will NEVER know whether this incident did or did not happen.
