DALLAS A Texas teenager who was deported to Colombia after claiming to be an illegal immigrant was back in the United States on Friday and at the center of an international mystery over how a minor could be sent to a country where she is not a citizen.
Her family has questioned why U.S. officials didn't do more to verify her identity and say she is not fluent in Spanish and had no ties to Colombia. While many facts of the case involving Jakadrien Lorece Turner remain unclear, U.S. and Colombian officials have pointed fingers over who is responsible.

Isn’t the fact that she was deported proof that she wasn’t illegal?
I hope she had learned her lesson about lying, running away, and stealing. I would guess that there is some drug usage in there, too.
Was that done on purpose so RAZA and “social justice” types could have a rallying cause to push 0bamao’s agenda for fast-tracking citizenship for illegals?
Oops. Think that should be LaRaza?
I think she was shocked when she got to Columbia they weren’t handing out cocaine on the streets for free. Try to get cocaine there and you get soldiers crawling over you.
I know the liberal view is that ICE screwed up badly here. And we’re supposed to feel sympathy that a teen girl in minor trouble with the law got deported.
But does this girl have any accountability for what happened? She ran away from home, got involved in some criminal activity, and when arrested, gave a false name. Does she have any responsibility for giving a false identity to authorities? Colombian authorities put her in a Welcome Home program? Did she have any responsibility to ever give her true identity to anyone?
We don’t know whe she ran away from home in the first place. Hopefully her life will be back on track now.
It would take personal accountability in order to give one’s real name prior to being deported after giving a false name. We don’t like personal accountability. This girl is a victim, a victim I tell you!

This young girl REALLY didn’t want to return home. Bet she runs, again.
To pull this scam on purpose seems unlikely. How could the girl have known who the name she gave belonged to, rather than being something she made up?
I could believe, though, that she was in such a rebellious or angry mind that when discovering she was headed for Colombia she thanked her lucky stars. All the better to get away from the horrible tiff with her family, whatever it was (and I sure hope it wasn’t a true abuse situation).
ok,
who the name => whom the name /pedant
Of course. Gotta blame someone with money. Might as well come from Obama’s stash.
She’s gold to them now, and surely treating her like a princess.

Yep, obviously a Spanish name. You can spot ‘em a mile away!
Should have just left her there.
Moral of the story is: When you steal someone’s identity, make sure the person you are impersonating isn’t wanted for something.
Lie to the Police, because you don’t go to Jail if you are an Illegal and pick deportation. Pick an option, Jail #1 or Airplane door #2.
Another reason for voter picture ID at 18, but for 16 yr olds claiming to be Columbians, the lies win.
Bingo Post of the thread.

That tells me all I need to know.
