Todd Palin Endorses Newt Gingrich
ABC News ^ | Jan 9, 2012 | ABC News’ Santina Leuci and Z. Byron Wolf reporting

Posted on 01/09/2012 10:13:50 AM PST by US Navy Vet

Sarah Palin’s husband is endorsing Newt Gingrich for president, Todd Palin told ABC News today.

But Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor and John McCain’s 2008 Republican running mate, has yet to decide “who is best able to go up against Barack Obama,” Todd Palin said.

Palin said he has not spoken to Gingrich or anyone from the former House speaker’s campaign. But he said he respects Gingrich for what he went through in the 1990s and compared that scrutiny in public life to what Sarah Palin went through during her run for the vice presidency.

Todd P is just only slightly dumber

A real man is always a threat to a wuss. Its great how we can actually know what's behind the scene.

Good deal. He seems like a stand-up guy. His opinion actually means something to me. Unlike the opinions of some other never-worked-a-day-in-their-life pundits.

Thanks for standing with me!

I have spent a lot of time on the Yukon River and I can tell you that any man that will drive a snowmobile 100mph into a wall of falling snow in the name of competition for competitions sake is a man’s man and deserves fundamental and basic respect.

I don't know the Yukon River, but I have spent a lot of time around successful commercial fishermen, and I can tell you that in order to be successful, they have to be smarter than the average bear. The fact that Todd has made a living commercial fishing also tells me that he is, as you said, "a man's man and deserves fundamental and basic respect." Some of the the smartest guys I've known are or were commercial fishermen; never knew one that wasn't pretty darned intelligent. The ones that weren't smart didn't last long.

It seems extremely doubtful that Todd would endorse anyone without consulting with Sarah first.

Despite how that might look to others, the Palins aren't private citizens, so they have to carefully manage any statements coming out of their camp. For better or worse, politics is the family business. Because of Sarah, they have influence, and must consider the repercussions of everything they say.

There's no way that Todd and Sarah didn't weight the effects of Todd's statement before he made it. They know what they're doing.

It's possible that Sarah Palin is prohibited from giving an endorsement because of her Faux News contract as a paid political analyst, and if that's the case, then Todd's endorsement, could be speaking for her.

Definitely possible, which would explain Todd coming out with this statement. He doesn't make many, so why this, and why now?

Because Sarah knows that we need to rally around Gingrich before the South Carolina vote. The calculus is clear. He's the only one who can beat Mittens and Obama. In addition, he's the one who should.

Well, my original point, which was apparently not nearly clear enough, is that it would seem that he is following Jim’s lead on this. Just a thought.

That's my thinking also. Newt has withstood a lot of media smears and attacks over the decades and now he's fighting back to Romney’ scorched earth, after trying to remain positive, but he experienced the fall that remaining positive brought him in Iowa.

Despite Krathammer’s snarly rant on BOR’s a few minutes ago, Newt is rising again, now that he's fighting Romney, and Romney is falling! Charles is wrong...LOL.

Faux is in the tank for Romney and against Newt. Chris Matthews, (of all people) really despises Romney and seems to be pulling for Newt. I'm sure he intends to smear Newt later on, but for now, he sees Romney for the slimebag he is and he's even said, that Obama would be using Bain and Romney-care against Romney -— that Romney is the easiest target of all!

Democrats see it, but voters don't? Not yet, anyway.

Gosh, voters need to wise up, right now!!

To he// with the stupid, corrupt GOP-E, Rove, Beltway pundits and GOP fossil incumbents backing Romney. If he gets the nomination, all of them can and will, go the way of the Whigs.

Couple ideas on Matthews. He’s probably the most honest of the MSNBC commentators in that he just speaks his mind without much of a filter, which is why he ends up saying stupid things more often than the others. Keep in mind he criticized Obama a couple months ago for not inspiring people anymore or something like that. So he’s not a pure hack just spewing spin.

The other factor is that MSNBC’s whole raison d’être is to do the opposite of what FOX does to try to fill a different audience niche. So if their producers have seen how pro-Romney FOX has been, they would likely just tell their crew to go in the opposite direction and bash Romney.

I'm doing my part to help spread the word. I find articles about Mitt on FR, and re-post them to Facebook every day.

And you're right about what'll happen if the GOP establishment pushes Romney to a win for the nomination. They'll go the way of the Whigs, because the vast majority of Republican voters simply DO NOT want him. They're gonna rebel, if the GOP tries to make us eat that crap sandwich.
