RUSH: Folks, I realize this is serious out there, and at some point I may have to issue a fatwa to stop this. If I sense it's really getting out of hand, of course I'll take action. I'll stand up and I'll just tell everybody here involved, "Cut this out and get serious." I don't want to bleed on any of you. It's unbecoming (sigh), but you don't know what being surrounded by negativism is. I am surrounded by it. It takes a concerted effort on my part every day to avoid it, to not be affected by it. I can't tell you tell you the amount of pessimism that's out there over this and a number of other things. So I know how you feel about this. I know you're worried about the negative aspect of it, but I just want to tell you that you are not alone. We have more Newt sound bites here. You're gonna have to hear this. That happened this afternoon on Fox with Megyn Kelly. Yeah, it was Megyn Kelly. It's America Live. She interviewing Newt. Megyn Kelly said to Newt, "Isn't our financial system, isn't our free enterprise system, set up to speak to profits, not so much fairness?" Isn't that what people go into business for (this is the essence of her question): profits?
GINGRICH: There has to be some sense of everybody's in the same boat -- and I think again, as I said, he's gonna have to explain why would Bain have taken $180 million out of a company and then have it go bankrupt, and to what extent did they have some obligation to the workers? ...........

Yeah well, keep in mind that Perot was polling in the mid-30s before he went kooky and dropped out, claiming the Republicans were going to disrupt his daughters wedding or something. He still snaggeg 18% after getting back in, despite that hit.
That’s not a small, and generally conservative (however much the hard-core anarcho-capitalist Randians might not agree), demographic to ignore.
Too bad Kennedy used this same attack against Romney, so they already know about it.
From Newt Gingrich
hes gonna have to explain why would Bain have taken $180 million out of a company and then have it go bankrupt, and to what extent did they have some obligation to the workers? Remember, these were a lot of people who made that $180 million, it wasnt just six rich guys at the top, and yet somehow they walked off from their fiduciary obligation to the people who had made the money for them.
I can understand the first sentence of that statement as a politicians populist political attack on a rival by implying ruthless business tactics to knock his poll numbers down.Fair game in politics.
But it looks like someone knocked Newt out after the first sentence of the statement and a union chief and the head of the DNC wrote the rest of the second sentence.
Newt sure sounds conflicted.
Not so sure about that - I seem to recall Henry Ford expressing pretty much the same sentiments at various times in his rather capitalistic career.
The Bain part didn’t set me off as much as his comments earlier about vacation homes and I am not rich like Romney. I have always stated Newt has the right to defend himself and defend himself and go on the offensive against his competitors, however, you could attack Romney on lots of other fronts that would bring positive responses in a Republican primary without touching the rich and money aspect like he has. Romneys record is full of left of center decisions on non economic issues.
“......so he would get my vote if he is the eventual nominee.”
Romney WILL NOT get my vote, period.
As far as I am concerned, the very second that Romney gets the nomination, will be the very second that Obama wins the election.
**over the top comments are frustrating to listen to.**
Just for a moment imagine that Israel is attacked by Iran.
Wouldn’t you want a Newt Churchill...err...Gingrich in there to lead the way?
“Never give in. Never give in. Never give in.”~Winston Churchill
I will NOT betray our Constitution and I will not betray Capitalism by giving Mitt a vote. Nothing on this Earth will get me to cast a vote for the vile Mitt.
Behind the scenes Mitt and his utterly evil slimy people have waged total war destroying all the Conservatives.
If the evil Mitt someone gains the nomination (I still think he will not win it) I will not reward that pig with a vote. Mitt will do absolutely NOTHING to turn our Republic towards Liberty.
Nope. He is telling you what the common man will be told and will think on his own anyway. He's warning you what to expect from the Obama machine for about three months straight if Romney is nominated. The 'rats know all this and more. Newt isn't giving away any secrets.
I know there are a lot of quivering conservatives now who want to stick their heads in the sand and pretend Romney is as clean as he says he is, because they are secretly beginning to think we will get Romney after all, once the sound and fury is over.
Newt is just saying "get ready, if you nominate Romney this is what you can expect."
How is it that Limbaugh doesn’t recognize Romney’s political posturing?
How can it be possible that Limbaugh could fail to understand that Romney’s so called “defense” of capitalism is not reliable?
If anyone goes all in for Romney, I’m done with them for good.
How can you go Perot if the person you are Peroting ain’t won nothing yet?
BINGO,
Mitt’s morman...business ethics are no problem...we’re all gentiles in his lexicon....
When it comes downtown actual policies, Romney will be no different than Obama. Some people never learn how useless RINOs are. LOL!
hes gonna have to explain why would Bain have taken $180 million out of a company and then have it go bankrupt, and to what extent did they have some obligation to the workers?

The company was failing, that is why Bain was able to buy it cheap. The hope was they could turn it around, this was one of the 22% they were not able to turn around. Bain did the best they could to make sure that it wasn’t one of the 8% they lost their money on.
You win some and you lose some.
As far as an obligation to the employees, there is none. You hire people to make you money, if they can’t make you money you let them go. Newt would have us believe that Bain should have spent their investment on continuing salaries to the employees until Bain went under. This is what the left and Socialist preach, it is wrong.
In the end Bain did more good than bad. They make money when they do it right not when they don’t.
As far as I’m concerned this has nothing to do with Romney it is all about a Republican running for office, POTUS at that, that doesn’t even understand at the most basic level the way business works.
Here’s what I don’t get - Newt is performing the ultimate service for the conservatives - he very well may end up taking Romney down - what everyone has been hoping for - who cares how he does it? He is smart enough surely to know he could be destroying himself - that is pretty evident - he has a bomb attached to his vest - and is willing to pull the tether... I don’t care how he takes romney down just that somebody does... and I don’t see anybody anywhere else who could or would try to do it... or does the conservative purity test now extend to suicide bombers? He may survive, I pray he does. But I don’t think Willard will, and that makes me very relieved. I don’t think this is anger or volatility - I haven’t heard a word of either in watching him the last few days. If I am wrong please set me straight, but be kind - it’s been a long day... :)
