Yes, “stay focussed” and STAY ON MESSAGE. He can win this if he stays on message.

Santorum endorsed Romney last time as Huck CLEARLY reminded Rick to his face last Sat and Sun...Santorum tried to stutter his way out of it, but Huck shot him down as he did Coulter last year on his show.

So look for Huck to endorse Newt and put him over the top at some point — if it’s a Newt versus Willard race after Super Tuesday and before Texas...

The margin of error for the survey is +/-4.2%.

Adding the MOE, Santorum could easily be in first.

Pity Newts in or Santorum would over 40. :D

Now, this is what I like to see. Hopefully the Folks in South Carolina can shove Romney to third.

Newt underperformed in New Hampshire and is killing himself with his anti-capitalism rhetoric.

The article is more favorable towards Santorum as the flag-bearer for conservatives (Gingrich is a liberal Republican with Socialist tendencies):

The field will likely be pared down to two or three candidates by the time the North Carolina primary rolls around, or the nomination may already be wrapped up.

But if Santorum got to face Romney one-on-one right now in this state, he would trounce him, 51-33. Gingrich would also just edge out Romney, 43-42, while Romney would easily dispatch Perry (52-35) and Paul (67-21).

That speaks to what could happen if the conservative wing of the party is able to coalesce around one well-financed and likable opponent down the stretch. And likable Santorum is, at least to North Carolina Republicans.

62% see the former Pennsylvania senator favorably and 22% unfavorably, far outpacing Gingrich’s 48-35, Romney’s 46-38, Perry’s 38-44, and Paul’s 29-56.

Newt and Santorum are virtually clones of each other on policy, so anyone who did that would have to be a seriously confused individual. Santorum would make a fine junior partner for Newt.

Wow! How long before someone dismisses this because PPP is a “liberal polling firm”?

Haha. Glad someone finally brought it up. I'm surprised this doozy hasn't been bandied about FR threads more often:
"If you're a conservative, there really is only one place to go right now. I would even argue farther than that. If you're a Republican, if you're a Republican in the broadest sense, there is only one place to go right now and that's Mitt Romney." –Rick Santorum, 02/1/2008 [source]

It’s too bad Newtsnake is in there or a conservative like Santorum might be over 40% now.

Besides, it was an empty threat because I am a diabetic and I have to stay clear of corn.

Santorum would make a fine junior partner for Newt.

Santorum would never align himself with a Socialist (and a corrupt one at that) like Newt.

To all Tea Party members: Forget Newt. He does not have a chance. He is too liberal, too corrupt, too old and too slimy. Newt should drop out of the race. He is just splitting the anti-Romney voting base.

A vote for Gingrich is a vote for Romney.

It is time to rally around the one person who can beat both Romney and Obama: Rick Santorum. Santorum would make a great nominee for the party.

Get on board! Santorum is the one!
