PPP Poll (SC): Romney 29%, Gingrich 24%, Paul 15%, Santorum 14%

You've obviously bought into the spin on Newt's statements. He wasn't attacking capitalism. He was attacking Bain Capital's hollowing out, and eventual destruction of many of the companies they took over. They were also forgiven a $10 million dollar loan, as part of a government bank bail out.
Romney and his partners profited through these legal, but unethical business dealings, and THAT is what Newt was trying to expose.
As far as Newt dropping out and endorsing Santorum, why on earth would he do that, seeing that he's polling a full ten points ahead of Rick, and only five points behind Mitt? That's just nuts.
It’s called Delegates. Or do they not exist in those ‘inconvenient primaries’?
Yeah, they are, which is why I suggest you read the polling numbers at the top of this thread again.
Newt is 5 points behind Mitt. Santorum is 15 points behind Mitt.
If this were a horse race, there's no way in the world you'd bet on Santorum catching Mitt, but you just might bet on Newt, with those numbers.
Yeh, he started out at the bottom for me. I really was sooo fed up with politicians. Then I started listening to the debates, and reading some of his proposals.
The night he talked about the judges sealed the deal. I am so sick and tired of these judges legislating from the bench and making everyone in America live like a little cabal in a far away place has determined that I just want to scream.LOL.
I suppose there is little chance that Newt puts America first and falls in line behind the conservative candidate who is already leading him in the delegate count. Nope, Newt loves himself too much to do something like that.
“If this were a horse race, there’s no way in the world you’d bet on Santorum catching Mitt, but you just might bet on Newt, with those numbers.”
Well, as I see things.
You’ve got a horse that was out in front, that slowed down, got passed, and the horse number 2 had a big, big lead. Horse number 3 was way back and horse number 4 even further back.
Then horse number 2 tired, and horse number 1 came back to the forefront, while horse number three started to come on strong. Horse number 4 from way behind the pack still behind.
Then some funny things happen. Horse number 3 tires, Horse number 4 passes a few others, Horse number 5 starts to make a move too. Horse number 1 falls back some, as horse number 3 took the lead.
Then horse number 3 got tired, falling behind horse number 1. Horse number 4 continues to make up ground. Horse number 5 does the same.
So the question for me -
Do I put my money on the horse that has already tired even though he’s in second, or do I put it on horse number 4 that has been on a major push?
Depends if I think that horse 4 can make up the ground in time.
I certainly don’t back horse number 3, because once a horse tires, they are done.
So yeah, we should look at this as a horse race.
Of course Newt is the smartest candidate, and I am maxed out to him $ wise.... but I can also read the tea leaves.
As far as me being a Romney suppoter, BIOYA
The problem is that all but $2500 of Adelson’s money is, by law, soft dollars, and cannot be used for pro-Newt ads.
There's your horse race in a nutshell.
To be accurate, it has not been 3-4 republicans not voting for Romney in every state so far. He won around 39% in NH. Keep your facts straight.
This 75% of republicans don’t want Mitt is a poor logic when you have a large and good slate of primary candidates. So you could say in NH, that 90% of republicans don’t want Mitt, or Santorum. 75% didn’t want Santorum in Iowa, etc. Poor and flawed logic. This is always the case early in the primaries; the vote is spread around. Looks like Mitt is consolidating and getting a better share in each upcoming state.
SC will be close. Unless Newt can win there and big, I am afraid this is effectively over.
That’s the snapshot. That’s where the race is now.
I could provide another snapshot? Perhaps that would drive my point home?
CNN/Time
11/29 - 12/6 510 LV

Then something happened over the Christmas break.
Same pollster, but now:

Gingrich 18
Santorum 19
Paul 12
Perry 5
Huntsman 1
What, did Newt run into a pole or something? December was a terrible month for Newt.
I find Rick S. impressive too, but I have seen many posters here say he is arrogant and boring. I would love to see him nominated. It would tell PA people how wrong they have been. But he and Gingrich are both on life support, and neither will survive beyond Feb. 1.
“No wonder he is sucessful and moral. Most Taurus are. Go Santorum.”
So, Santorum supporters base their support of him on astrology? Wow. Great methods, especially after I checked mid January horoscope for Taurus.
Looks promising for Senator Rick!
“Your biggest moment of the month may occur on or after January 23, when your career may become vibrant and filled with opportunity. This is simply one of the most important points of the year for you to aim for a top new position and to profile in your industry. A new moon always opens opportunity, so you may get an offer. This would be an excellent star chart to run for high office.
“Keep in mind that you only need to begin talks to make this new moon work for you, not actually nab your prize. The planets reveal that someone will be donating large sums on your behalf. Don’t be discouraged by negative vibes of those who say that you have never managed anything larger than a small office staff or really haven’t accomplished much in your career. It may take time - months - of interviews, but what matters is that you take those first steps after January 23. “
Newt will be the top dog again very soon.
He has presented his ideas very clearly and people
are coming back to him in droves.
I said it weeks ago that Newt would be the one for
the long hauls. 0 will be crushed by Newt.
The only way to stop Muttney is to unite behind the one candidate that can win in the general, who has a proven record of cutting government and balancing budgets.
If they don’t get that question sorted out and soon, it’s going to be Romney in a walk. And he’ll end up picking another soft Republican as his running mate. The slender window of hope is almost closed for conservatives.
Time for everyone to get in line and do what we gotta do to keep Romney busy instead of cruising to the win so many in the media are putting in stone.
Help Newt.
Real World Newt Gingrich!!! Real World Rick Perry!!!
Gingrich:
- Nancy Pelosi Lover
- James Clyburn Lover
- Paul Ryan Hater
- Dede Scozzafava Lover - Caused Loss of NY23 District - Democrat won!!
- Climate Change Nutso
- Individual Mandate Lover
- Supported PAC lies about other candidates
- Not stable across the board
- Not a true Conservative
Perry:
- Simple: Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. No depth or substance. Never checks facts!!!
Sad, that so many Republicans, Conservatives and Freepers are taken in by these two flim/flam dudes.
- Romney, Paul, Santorum, those are the choices!!! And......others yet to come!!! This race is just beginning, but....Gingrich and Perry must go!!!
He’s not even on the ballot in Ohio.
A Republican President has to win Ohio to be President.
Santorum is a joke.
