Santorum Owes Michele Bachmann an Apology
Christian Newswire ^ | Jan. 14, 2012 | Christian Newswire/

Presidential candidate Senator Rick Santorum deployed a sexist strategy in IA. His IA Evangelical surrogates promoted the idea that a female cannot be an elected official or a commander-in-chief. The same Evangelical surrogates repeatedly called upon Rep. Michele Bachmann to withdraw from the race although she led the Senator and other male candidates in the polls. Bob Vander Plaats, CEO Family Leader and Santorum endorser, also, rejected two consensus votes in favor of Rep. Bachmann polled among Evangelical pastors at a meeting hosted by an organization close to the Family Leader. Home school parents circulated a treatise written in 2004 titled, "Should Christians support a female civil magistrate."

Further, the Des Moines Register ran a story on Friday, January 13, 2011 written by Jennifer Jacobs that published excerpts from an email written by the Senator's senior advisor, Jamie Johnson. Mr. Johnson sent out an email saying that "children's lives would be harmed if the nation had a female president". He continues, "The question then comes, 'Is it God's highest desire, that is, His biblically expressed will, ... to have a woman rule the institutions of the Family, the Church, and the State?'"

No wonder Governor Sarah Palin chose not to run.

It’s this kind of nonsense that provides ammunition to the Liberal big mouths babbling about Conservatives wanting to keep women ignorant, barefoot, and pregnant.

I don’t see any bearing for any apology...but certainly those within her own staff who sabotaged Bachmann at every stage deserve further scrutiny to prevent them from ever working within 10 feet of a campaign again.

It’s this kind of nonsense that provides ammunition to the Liberal big mouths babbling about Conservatives wanting to keep women ignorant, barefoot, and pregnant.

The biggest problem is the concept from God, that men should assume responsible leadership 9and take the heat) is bastardized into the "barefoot/pregnant" paridigm. Biblically, women only stepped up when men failed in their obligations. Some may argue that it all needed changing and "modern" society rights many "religious wrongs". Others of us believe that if we had stuck with the model God gave us, society would be a saner entity and there would be more two-parent families, no "Gay" (I say "homosexual") "marriage" or a thousand other ills we have wrought upon ourselves in the name of progress (odd that liberals now call themsevles "progressive" liberals these days...). That said, I would gladly vote for Palin and believe that Thatcher was also stepping up because men neglected their obligations.

MB's career House staff (all part of the GOP-E) were the one's who talked her into running for Prez in order to get her out of the House at precisely the time when the TEA party freshmen needed her leadership, and also to diminish Sarah Palin's insurgency during the 2010 elections.

Mission accomplished.

If that’s truly the way Santorum feels, then he doesn’t need a woman’s vote to win. When the libbers get that one the publicity they will voluntarily give him will stop his run dead in it’s tracks.

Santorum's history of sexism, including passages from his book, will be easy ammunition for the Dems in the fall. His own written words on the matter have come up in the primary in the very first debate.

Deploying a sexist strategy against Bachmann would be natural for him.

I admit that I did not go to the link. Please tell me how Santorum is responsible for any of these comments.

That’s the least of the problems with Santorum.
Has anybody taken a good look at his voting record?

RICK SANTORUM

It’s going to be Romney or Newt or by a slim chance, Santorum.

VOTED AGAINST INCREASING THE NUMBER OF IMMIGRATION INVESTIGATORS?
VOTED TO GIVE WELFARE BENEFITS TO NATURALIZED CITIZENS?
VOTED AGAINST HIRING AN ADDITIONAL 1,000 BORDER PATROL AGENTS?
VOTED AGAINST FOOD STAMP REFORM?
VOTED AGAINST MEDICAID REFORM?

People NEED to know this about Santorum’s voting record.

Newt is NOT my first choice, and I can’t say I like him that much.
I just feel it will take a man of Newt’s bravery, (yes, bravery. Newt’s right. The others are too timid to debate Obama) intellect, experience and debating skills to bring the Marxist/Muslim down.
Have we all forgotten his smack-downs of his RINO opponents and the Obama butt-licking interviewers?
All agree he’s the most intelligent, experienced and the most skilled at debating- even the Obama loving Media.

Obama is going to have a billion dollars in this campaign fund, the commie MSM in his back pocket, he’ll use the same same voter fraud methods, and illegal overseas contributiions as he did in ‘08.
Do you think the rats are going to let the commie coup they they have hoped for for generations slip through their fingers??
The fight is going to be the hardest fought and the dirtiest in U.S history.
We have GOT to have a STRONG man with the experience, intellect and debating skills to go up against Obama- or America is doomed.

Bachmann has no one to blame but herself for her campaign. No one’s sexism held her back. She was her own worst enemy.

There's no mistake about it; it is precisely how he feels as expressed in his own book from the early 2000s--a brief topic in the first debate. He does not believe women should work outside the home and wrote economic considerations were a "convenient excuse."

Too many are being swept up in his social conservative rhetoric. He is no constitutional conservative. He's a troglodyte neocon statist with a theocratic mindset. He's great news for the Democrat party.

To be honest, who cares?

Did Senator Santorum order these attacks? Has this email been confirmed and the full context of it released in the press? If not, Santorum doesn’t owe anyone anything.

Bachmann finished last place in Iowa and it wasn’t because of sexism. Our country’s future is at stake. Why is that when that’s going on that we have to have cry babies crying, “He hit me!”
