But why not just talk about the corruption of the Obama Administtration and how it's policies are destroying America?
Capitalism has a bad context due to communist propaganda, where the opposite is true. Economic freedom is a more descriptive term for Capitalism.
Uh, - - - then if we “win,” just what have we won?
We need to quit surrendering language battles to the left.
Double down on the use of the word capitalism. It's nothing to be ashamed of, or shy away from.
This is/was a very revealing statement about how words are used to define things in a way to control. The EPA is a master at this linguistic maneuvering. A persons factory becomes a bunch of facilities, A factory unit becomes a point source. A side product becomes associated pollution. EPA then goes on to regulate it’s defined manufacturing world.
A instructive ( and depressing) moment for me occurred a few years ago when I got to ask a leftist relative the following question. “If it could be proven that capitalism is the best way to raise people out of poverty, would you support it?” The answer I got was “No, it still wouldn’t be ‘fair’ to everybody”. Somehow a subjective notion of what is “fair” is more important to at least this one leftist( but I suspect most leftists) than actual improvement of peoples lot in life. Very sad.
“The author is right. Capitalism the system is great. The word, not so much.”
The left has been very successful using words to frame the debate. We shouldn’t play into their hands. They are making “capitalism” into a bad word. We should stop using it just as they redefined themselves as “progressives” from “liberals” when Reagan made “liberal” a bad word.
Our candidates should have three messages. The first is economic opportunity — jobs, incomes and a return to prosperity. “Opportunity” is a word the progressive have owned. We can take it away from them talking about the economic suffering Obama has inflicted and how we want economic opportunity for everyone.
The second message is corruption. Pound home all of the arbitrary actions by the administration in violation of the Constitution. Make them sound like the “lawless” party just like they did to the Republicans in 2006.
The third message is freedom. Freedom to choose a school for your children, freedom to choose the best health care plan for your family, freedom to choose what kind of light bulb you want to purchase, freedom to work without being forced to pay dues to a union, freedom to build a house on your property without the EPA stealing it from you. Talk about individual liberty and draw the contrast with the Democrats pushing for more agencies, more bureaucrats and more restrictive rules over everyday life.
Right now, the Republicans have no message. We need to get the message framed and have every Republican office holder on message everyday. The Democrats are great at staying on message.
Only an idiot would think winning was about not talking about what you are fighting for. What’s next, just give up capitalism altogether just to win an election?
