Drudge: Gingrich’s ex-wife is ready to dish (Marianne Gingrich interview to be released tomorrow?)

You know who this benefits?

Marianne Gingrich has said she could end her ex-husband’s career with a single interview. Earlier this week, she sat before ABCNEWS cameras, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

She spoke to ABCNEWS reporter Brian Ross for two hours. Her explosive revelations are set to rock the campaign. But now a “civil war” has erupted inside of the network, an insider claims, on exactly when the confession will air!

Just a little more late intrigue for a race that’s already in flux from Newt’s post-debate surge, Palin’s quasi-endorsement, Santorum’s possible victory in Iowa (the official results will be announced tomorrow morning), Perry’s uncertain status vis-a-vis calls for him to drop out, and yet another debate tomorrow night. Drudge says the interview’s tentatively set to air Monday, after the vote in South Carolina, but reporters from Politico and the NYT are hearing it’ll air … tomorrow, presumably before the debate. I’m surprised his ex didn’t insist that it be broadcast ASAP. If she’s coming clean now after years of silence, just as he’s readying his last stand against Romney, she’s obviously doing it to try to take him out. If you were her, wouldn’t you want it to drop before the primary?

Actually, she hasn’t been completely silent. Go read the Esquire piece from 2010 that everyone will be murmuring about until this thing finally airs. Quote:

Back in the 1990s, she told a reporter she could end her husband’s career with a single interview. She held her tongue all through the affair and the divorce and even through the annulment Gingrich requested from the Catholic Church two years later, trying to erase their shared past. Now she sits quietly for a moment, ignoring her eggs, trying to decide how far she wants to go.

Here’s the most sensational bit, after she found out about Gingrich’s new mistress:

She kind of guessed it, of course. Women usually do. But did she know the woman was in her apartment, eating off her plates, sleeping in her bed?

She called a minister they both trusted. He came over to the house the next day and worked with them the whole weekend, but Gingrich just kept saying she was a Jaguar and all he wanted was a Chevrolet. “‘I can’t handle a Jaguar right now.’ He said that many times. ‘All I want is a Chevrolet.’”

He asked her to just tolerate the affair, an offer she refused.

He’d just returned from Erie, Pennsylvania, where he’d given a speech full of high sentiments about compassion and family values.

The next night, they sat talking out on their back patio in Georgia. She said, “How do you give that speech and do what you’re doing?”

“It doesn’t matter what I do,” he answered. “People need to hear what I have to say. There’s no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn’t matter what I live.”

If her interview runs along those lines — Gingrichian egomania and hypocrisy but nothing criminal or lurid — I don’t know how much it’ll change things. You never know what information voters have and haven’t fully assimilated about a candidate, but Newt’s “values” problems have been public knowledge long enough that I take it they’re already mostly priced into his stock. He’s going to say she’s a disgruntled ex who’s making things up and, in any case, that he’s found redemption in his faith since the divorce. Unless she’s got a bombshell she’s ready to drop, how many voters thinking of voting for him at this point will really think twice?

Exit question: If the interview does air tomorrow, how hard will Santorum and Romney go after him at the debate over it? Santorum’s desperate to have social conservatives unite behind him, but this is an awfully messy attack to try with the, er, “Chevrolet” sitting in the audience in front of him.

Always remember, there are two sides to every story. She was the 1st mistress, Colesta was the last. Sounds to me like Newt has now found peace in his life, has made his peace with God and his church. No 2...out to lunch with envy that she is not there by his side. It takes two to make a marriage work and you all know that. Newt got out of an already destroyed marriage. Trust me (married 40 years), I would not believe a word she said!

Who is paying her? Who will benefit? Follow the money! We all knew this was coming...better to get it out of the way now. GO MR. NEWT!

Than why hold it until Monday? Releasing it now will cause the greater damage.

Maybe ... ABCNews has determined that the threat to release something "big" is enough to harm Newt. And on Monday we'll hear that he eats fatty foods and lets his dog poo on the neighbor's lawn.

Idle speculation on my part but they might be holding it to see who wins. If Romney wins they don’t need to use it yet. If Newt wins and it looks like he will secure the nomination they will want to use it for the best effect. I could honestly see them deliberate all the way up until the week before the election. Remember the Bush DUI story?

I’m very, very sure they also want to forgive and forget. They are HER kids, right?

In that case, what she’s doing is very umotherly, IMO. This will hurt the family, and do no good for anyone. I’m sure the kids will be royally embarrassed. Who could do that to their own children?

I’ve just NEVER seen or heard of a primary season like this one. We’ve truly got some really dirty people in politics and in the media these days. It’s really sad.

Is this the school teacher who started screwing Newt when he was in high school?

Oh Yeah I am going to put a lot of faith in the words of a pedophile.

Let's see - if I'm counting right, that may very well be three top conservative contenders down and basically one top contender remaining.

At some point, we may have to get serious about the possibility of a general election between "The One Who we have been waiting for" and Romney. If so, are we going to vote against Obama or not vote (= a vote for Obama). Another four years of Obama is worst case scenario IMO.

A word about the GOP:

I wonder how long the GOP has been a soft Liberal party. I believe Reagan stole the party back from the Liberals ("moderates") in 1980. Eisenhower allowed taxes and government to grow crazily in the 50's. How far back do you have to go? I think sometime in the late 1800's/early 1900's, America found itself without a political party that would put America and its Christian, traditional values first. I think ever since then the GOP has put its own interests and political perpetuation ahead of what's best for America.

The country has withstood an amazingly long period of time without sustained organizational and institutional support. May God Himself continue to bless and uphold America against her enemies, within and without, until He returns for His own.

Hope Newt doesn't consult Herman Cain for advice. The media picked that man to the bone. Now we hear nothing from the women who were dug up to smear him.

I don't know what really happened between Newt and his ex. And I would not fully believe either of them. But I do know that plenty of time has passed, and I am sure things were settled legally and financially between them.

If every woman (or man) who was hurt in a marriage by their spouse's extra-marital activities held a grudge and tried to get revenge years later, the world would be a continually angry battleground full of smears, gossip, and hate (and we almost have that).

And, if this woman is still a Catholic hasn't she learned about "Forgiveness?" It does a soul much better than going public with one's hatred. She might never forget her hurt, but for her soul, she should forgive and leave the justice to the Lord. I can speak from experience, having endured similar. It does not pay to be vindictive and hateful. In the end, if Newt has done wrong and committed sins...God will take care of the revenge.

I don't at all support men having low morals, or being unfaithful, but this was a drama of long ago, and no matter what is told to us now, it will be colored by the agendas of either person. So, why in the world is this woman seeking to destroy him now? Probably for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$. And what good can she do for us, anyway?

It is obvious that there are few honorable politicians in either party anymore. I don't know if I could support Newt or not. Not sure about any of the candidates, except I know I don't want Ron Paul.

However, there are many politicians with questionable morals . And it seems that in the past 40 years the majority of politicians seem to have been bitten by the bug of severe narcissism, ignoring morals and using any means to justify their ends and goals. Many of these men have traits and capabilities that are worthy and useful, but they destroy themselves with the sins of pride, lust, and greed. I am so weary of leaders who abuse their power for the sake of personal gratification in any way. When will it end?

he has asked for forgiveness from God How do you know and since when did give you judgement over his soul? I sick of leaders making excuses and blaming everyone else for their mistakes. Gingrich said he was carrying on adultery because he loved this country. B.S. He knew what he was doing and he knew his actions would save Clinton and set the conservative movement back 25 years. If he's sorry, he should atone, not act like an arrogant king, who is better than Americans. I am sick of leftwingers, whether their name is Clinton, Obama, or Gingrich.

While conservatives were fighting the good fight, he was taking dirty money from Barney Frank Fannie Mae and extolling the virtues of Nancy Pelosi. He doesn't deserve to come pretending tpo be one of the conservatives he hates.

This country is over. The American “experiment” has come to an end. I never thought I’d see it in my lifetime, but we’re about to decline into CWII.

There has never been more money and influence at stake in any election. Make no mistake, there are TRILLIONS of dollars riding on this election. There is also the entire progressive agenda (dominates academia, unions, and the media) that is up for potential repudiation by the majority of America.

It is going to be extremely nasty.

Proverbs 24:17-18

17 Do not rejoice when your enemies fall, and do not let your heart be glad when they stumble, 18 or else the Lord will see it and be displeased, and turn away his anger from them.

More news cycles of negative stuff.

Except against Mitt

Of course not. The media is doing what they can to push the candidate who will most likely lose to Obama. Pure and simple. Once again, character assassination comes to the forefront of news in order to destroy anyone who might get in the way of the media's socialist agenda.

Are we really that surprised?

Does this mean that Marianne is going to be at the debate starring down Newt? Pretty sleazy if so.
