Drudge: Gingrich’s ex-wife is ready to dish (Marianne Gingrich interview to be released tomorrow?)
Hot Air ^ | JANUARY 18, 2012 | ALLAHPUNDIT

Posted on 01/18/2012 6:01:15 PM PST by Qbert

You know who this benefits?

Marianne Gingrich has said she could end her ex-husband’s career with a single interview. Earlier this week, she sat before ABCNEWS cameras, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

She spoke to ABCNEWS reporter Brian Ross for two hours. Her explosive revelations are set to rock the campaign. But now a “civil war” has erupted inside of the network, an insider claims, on exactly when the confession will air!

Just a little more late intrigue for a race that’s already in flux from Newt’s post-debate surge, Palin’s quasi-endorsement, Santorum’s possible victory in Iowa (the official results will be announced tomorrow morning), Perry’s uncertain status vis-a-vis calls for him to drop out, and yet another debate tomorrow night. Drudge says the interview’s tentatively set to air Monday, after the vote in South Carolina, but reporters from Politico and the NYT are hearing it’ll air … tomorrow, presumably before the debate. I’m surprised his ex didn’t insist that it be broadcast ASAP. If she’s coming clean now after years of silence, just as he’s readying his last stand against Romney, she’s obviously doing it to try to take him out. If you were her, wouldn’t you want it to drop before the primary?

Actually, she hasn’t been completely silent. Go read the Esquire piece from 2010 that everyone will be murmuring about until this thing finally airs. Quote:

Back in the 1990s, she told a reporter she could end her husband’s career with a single interview. She held her tongue all through the affair and the divorce and even through the annulment Gingrich requested from the Catholic Church two years later, trying to erase their shared past. Now she sits quietly for a moment, ignoring her eggs, trying to decide how far she wants to go.

Here’s the most sensational bit, after she found out about Gingrich’s new mistress:

She kind of guessed it, of course. Women usually do. But did she know the woman was in her apartment, eating off her plates, sleeping in her bed?

She called a minister they both trusted. He came over to the house the next day and worked with them the whole weekend, but Gingrich just kept saying she was a Jaguar and all he wanted was a Chevrolet. “‘I can’t handle a Jaguar right now.’ He said that many times. ‘All I want is a Chevrolet.’”

He asked her to just tolerate the affair, an offer she refused.

He’d just returned from Erie, Pennsylvania, where he’d given a speech full of high sentiments about compassion and family values.

The next night, they sat talking out on their back patio in Georgia. She said, “How do you give that speech and do what you’re doing?”

“It doesn’t matter what I do,” he answered. “People need to hear what I have to say. There’s no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn’t matter what I live.”

If her interview runs along those lines — Gingrichian egomania and hypocrisy but nothing criminal or lurid — I don’t know how much it’ll change things. You never know what information voters have and haven’t fully assimilated about a candidate, but Newt’s “values” problems have been public knowledge long enough that I take it they’re already mostly priced into his stock. He’s going to say she’s a disgruntled ex who’s making things up and, in any case, that he’s found redemption in his faith since the divorce. Unless she’s got a bombshell she’s ready to drop, how many voters thinking of voting for him at this point will really think twice?

Exit question: If the interview does air tomorrow, how hard will Santorum and Romney go after him at the debate over it? Santorum’s desperate to have social conservatives unite behind him, but this is an awfully messy attack to try with the, er, “Chevrolet” sitting in the audience in front of him.

The problem with Rudy... is that he sat around and did nothing while 40-60% of the babies conceived in New York City were systematically murdered in their mother’s womb.

Hillary sticking her neck out? She was right in the middle of her husband's filth and sleaze. Whitewater, Travelgate, Filegate, Vince Foster, HillaryCare, Bimbo Eruptions....

She ain't no victim, and she ain't no martyr.

She's an instigator and an enabler.

But, from the looks of her lately, the ol' "reap what you sow" is catching up with her.

Newt was amusing in the debates, as the unofficial anti-MSM moderator.
That's about it for his usefullness.
Romney is the Democrat/Socialist wetdream Republican alternative to Obama, and brings with him a guaranteed second term for Obama. No thanks.
Ron Paul is a fruitcake, and not a Republican.
He is now, and has always been, a Libertarian.

Republicans have a choice between Rick Santorum and Rick Perry.
I lean heavily towards Santorum, but could accept Perry.
I don't expect perfection of any political candidate, since all of them are politicians.
Either Rick S. or Rick P. are acceptable as the Republican nominee for POTUS, IMNSHO.

I really don't care what current game the unelected, union steward equivelants of the “official” Republican Party have planned.
And no, Romney will not get my vote if he does become the the latest winner of the lessor of two evils selection.

Many of these passing their judgement may want to revisit the following . . .

“Amazing Grace”

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That sav’d a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears reliev’d;
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believ’d!

Thro’ many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promis’d good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who call’d me here below,
Will be forever mine.

If I were her I would have opened a vein a long time ago. What she appears to be doing now is far more squalid, slimey, and degraded than anything she can accuse him of.

We are hardened by now as opposed to the naive purists we were four years ago. These candidates have flaws and faults just as the voters do from which they emerged, and every candidate represent the sins of the Republic very well. Most of us by now get that the purity contest will be decided not in this world but in the next, but we have an election to win right now, and a socialist running away with the nomination, who finally has a threat breathing down his neck on Saturday.

We stick with Newt to get that done. You, however, are free to continue the counting of all the individual nits, bags, baggage, and the sins of each, all the way to hell and back, if that measures up for you as time well spent.

"I know all this about him. I decided he admitted it, he repented and he won’t do it with the current wifey. He knows right from wrong and is not hiding stuff. He knows he has been a failure in relationships with women. We all know he this about him. If a woman is dragged out who he has a current affiar with...then he’s a problem to me. I am not voting for the Pope."

That's all true, and it makes logical sense... but there's else going on. The left has been subtly hammering away and framing the narrative about him from day one of his campaign. Remember the whole Tiffany's account thing? That wasn't simply about slamming "the rich Republican guy"... that was the left painting somebody who is (supposedly) being controlled by his wife. And the "abandoning his presidential campaign to go on vacation with her" thing. And...

They portray him as a man who can never truly repent- because he's "trapped" in controlling relationships- and therefore he lacks the stability to be president. Whether the public at large believes this- who knows?

Dying to know if Marianne the Vicious has recordings of said quotes she so cheerfully attributes to Newt. She is going to need them. I doubt he has been idle against her vicious threats. If Newt has a plan at all to defend against her, it will be a beauty and Marianne the Vicious will not like it.

All he has to do is roll out the supportive mother of his children (the first wife who had the breast lump removed)and she and Callista can deal with the second wife, Marianne the Vicious.

“No,their mother is his first wife, Jackie Battley, who was his high school teacher. Yes, she did seduce the teenaged Newt. If this happened today, she'd have gone to jail. BTW - Jackie did NOT die of cancer, she is alive and well.”

I agree. She was at least six years older than Newt. If Newt had been older, the age difference wouldn't have mattered, but he was just a kid.

I've been disgusted with Newt's past, but now I'm beginning to wonder about wife number two. I already didn't like wife number one because she was his high school teacher. Number two didn't have to wait till he was this far along in the race before she came out with this exclusive to take him down. She really doesn't care about the country. I'm beginning to think he is more guilty of bad taste in wives than anything else.

At least the first wife did not turn the children bitter towards her ex-husband, so I'll give her more credit than the second, who wants the whole world to hate Newt.

Might be the end game the media is looking for, to have Newt battle former wife during an election process, to throw his game off.

.But then, I give him enough credit to have thought of that already, and have multiple plans from which to pick as counter.

He probably is in a controlling relationship. I think that is his make up - to be dysfunctional in relationships with women, get overwhelmed and run. His first relationship was with a woman when he was a boy. I know this about his personality. I think Obama was sexually abused by males.

The left (including Rinos) can do whatever they want and they will absolutely smear and hate whoever presents a challenge to their kingdom. I hope it’s Newt.

I receive a daily verse from www.thedailybibleverse.org

and today’s verse is:

“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Romans 13:1 (NIV)

Today’s commentary
by Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org

This may seem like a difficult passage, but think of the time that Paul was writing it. The Roman Empire ruled with an iron fist, yet that was the environment where the church flourished. It seems that the gospel is not limited by a government or an economy. When we see that God can move in any system, we can submit ourselves to those systems – even the ones that we disagree with.”

- Yep. Btw, a new update from the original article- this whole story may all be a bunch of nothing now...:

“Update: Good lord. After all the hype tonight, is this thing actually going to be a giant nothingburger? Howard Kurtz:

A knowledgeable insider says that Newt Gingrich’s second wife does not say anything in the taped interview with ABC News that she hasn’t said in previous print interviews. But to repeat her account of how their marriage failed—because the then-House speaker was having an affair—in a form that can be endlessly replayed on television could prove a serious distraction for the presidential candidate two days before the South Carolina primary.”

I read that interview a few weeks ago online. Its been all over the place. Newt already said he has done things he regrets and has asked God for forgiveness. There’s not much else to do about it. Marianne Gingrich does not have anything devastating to say about Newt. Compared to Clinton he’s a choir boy.

You are the last person to have a clue. I abhored the Santorum story. You were so busy dancing on Newt’s grave tonight, and singing about the media political assassination attempt against him, that you had to go into your version of Santorum’s purity, your usual full throated warble that goes something like this, “thank goodness Santorum has no dirt for anyone to worry with”. LOL!

The media went after Karen Santorum this week. I brought it to your attention. If media thought Santorum had a prayer, that very story would be wall to wall. He doesn’t have a chance so they sit on it. So it’s best for us to wise up and shut up about the too-pure-for-school crap. The media does not and will not care whether anything is true and accurate.

Were I Newt Gingrich I would stick with the “pity the poor woman and I’m so sorry I hurt her to make her so bitter still after all these years”

and I would make sure the public and Mitt Romney and Santorum know the daughters who support him and don’t support all their mom’s allegations are given plenty of camera time

then just be humble and stay on message and continue to attack Romney’s war machine that cannot stand on Romney’s record...unlike Newt’s...and which lives by personal destruction and liberal GOP proxies...and the media who ignored Clinton’s crap and never vetted Obama yet are now obsessed with a 20 year old failed marriage?

The momentum is with Newt and this will cause the mods to have to give him airtime...which suits him as a rule....

I say this as a man with an ex wife...a beautiful but unhinged woman who left me for an older rich man...several husbands ago for her..and she did me a favor....though I paid huge child support so she would facilitate my seeing my girls..divorce ain’t fair

not as just another freepers who left his ex bitter

for the record

so unless Marianne has something really salacious...it’s not much impact to me...

the Networks are running this quick to try to stop Newt...and queer Mitt pimps like Drudge are their Igors

that should tell Newt haters here something...if they can see past their noses

The story about Karen S. is old news - I saw it well before Iowa - and it happened before she and Rick were together. If anything it makes Rick look all the better. I was able to both forgive her and straighten her out. This dirt on Newt was bound to come out sooner or later. If he can't handle it now he would handle it worse later. Better to try to deal with it while we still have backup plans available. Based on what was already known about the end of his second marriage any thinking Newt supporters should have anticipated this. However less-thinking Newt supporters, who didn't look further than the debates, or those supporting Newt as the anyone-but-Mitt candidate de jour may be shook by this.

Personally the new information on Newt that bothered me more today was the WSJ piece on his early academic career. I hadn't realized he'd been denied tenure, nor that with minimal experience he proposed himself as department head and even as college president. Obama will be impressed. Newt then described himself as a "futurist" - the Tofflers already had him hooked. And I was shocked to learn that our history professor really wanted to teach environmental studies. Gore will be impressed.

Tomorrow will be an interesting day. At 8:15 CST the Iowa GOP will announce their certified caucus results. What leaks there have been suggest Santorum will be crowned then winner, leaving Mitt only the winner of (one of) his home state(s). This season being the "boring" candidate may prove to be a good thing. If all the Democrats can find to attack are the issues we'll win.

I want to see Obama’s ... Harvard Review writings...

That's the one thing in his past we've all seen. He didn't write ANYTHING while President of the Harvard Law Review. I presume that fact was then unprecedented and I hope, it hasn't been equaled since. Obama won that position the first year they considered affirmative action as part of the decision process. Atlas had at least some of the goods on him back in 2008.

“Palin couldn’t be VP because she could see Russia from ALASKA.”

Save your money and by a brain. You are an idiot.
