InsiderAdvantage Poll: Gingrich Now Leads Romney in S. Carolina Newt 32 Mitt 29 Santorum 11 Perry 3

An InsiderAdvantage poll conducted Wednesday night has former House Speaker Newt Gingrich now leading the Republican primary race in South Carolina.

The poll of likely Republican primary voters has Gingrich with 32 percent, ahead of Mitt Romney who trailed close behind at 29 percent.

The results are a significant reversal for Romney, who had led polls before Tuesday's Fox News debate. A poll conducted by InsiderAdvantage last Sunday showed Romney with a double-digit lead over Gingrich.

The InsiderAdvantage poll is the first major South Carolina survey after the debate. Gingrich has been crediting with winning the debate.

The poll found that support for Ron Paul and Rick Santorum is faltering, with both pulling 15 and 11 percent, respectively.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry finished last with just 3 percent of the vote. Three percent of those polled selected "other candidate" and 7 percent said they had no opinion.

The survey polled 718 registered Republican voters.

Yes, we may, I don’t mean to jump the gun, it just looks like things are moving in a postive direction, but I am content to wait.

except as of last night when she said that, the most recent polls had Newt down by 11. She had no way of knowing what they’d say today.

Now. since Todd endorsed Newt and apparently has some connections to the campaign, maybe they filled him in on some internal news yesterday and said “you know, Todd, you might want to say a few words to the missus, we’re on the upswing here and she could really do some good”

But she still backed someone who was down double digits in SC and nationally and had been given up for dead by most of the media and establishment.

I certainly hope Rick wouldn’t do that..><

I believe Newt has flaws, but so does every man, I think he is more conservative than Romney by far, and I would rather Newt be the nominee than Romney.

Perry is really the only one the Dems should be afraid to face in the general. He makes Obama look like a scared schoolboy.

What? I mean, I think Perry is a good man. He's got a good heart and I like him and all, but he's not even ahead in his own state!

Pery has been nailing the talking points from DAY ONE.
The MSM is reassigning them to the other candidates.

I don’t get it.
He is the MOST experienced guy period, and the most experienced with fighting the current administration.

If Perry was the nominee folks like Holder and Jackson would be purged on day one.

These other candidates want to play around and entertain these people.
Romney, Newt, and Santorum dance like puppets.

Bah!

On Drudge it says the ex-wife will air Thursday night on Nightline

The debate is on CNN. Nightline is on ABC after the debate.

I hope Newt is given ample, ample time during the debate to address this.

I won't watch Nightline, because I'm not about to give it my Nielsen rating, and I'm sure Team Romney at Faux will get permission to repeatedly air the juiciest parts.

Frankly, the death nail was pulling out in Iowa before pulling back in. That message was the end to an abysmally run campaign, to whom I wrote early on. They went dead silent for two weeks after Perry announced. He had all pals, plenty of money and no sharks on his team. Terrible campaign. People had to move on. By the time he recovered it was nice but seen in the rear view mirror. He does need to pull out if this helps Newt, unless he wants to help Romney and I surely don’t think he does. Though one never knows what deals are made among whom or for what.

why does this have to be some secret plot? It’s not like the Cain thing where it’s a total surprise and the accusers had to be found out.

Everyone knows about Marianne Gingrich. She’s given interviews before. they know her name and her # and where she lives.

No one needs Axelrod to pull off some scheme. ABC just had to call her up and ask.

Jeltz,
I think she endorsed after the debate—

But, you just gave me a thought. To counteract Newt’s wife, wouldn’t it be great if Sarah came down and addressed some TEA PARTY functions in SC. Headlines would go from Newt’s ex (if any)- to Sarah coming to town. Maybe?

Not to mention probably 97% of Newt’s supporters knew this would eventually get ugly, and got behind him because taking down zero is the goal here.

No traction, IMO.

I think the debate will be for all the marbles. If Newt handles it well and wins the debate he’ll win SC and be the nominee. If not, Romney will win SC and be the nominee.

Newt has the momentum and it’s in his hands. He’s up in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs, the bases loaded and his team down a run. Their ace closer is on the mound.

It’s all up to him.

I think the nomination will be determined tomorrow night.

SC winners become FL winners due to momentum :~)

And I’m sure a certain Vegas billionaire will help out Newt’s PAC again and again and again....

What’s that I’m hearing? Santorum needs to pull out? I think you owe us an apology.

You're either terminally delusional, or you're very well paid.

Did you examine the poll? Did you notice that Newt is now LEADING, and that your boy Santo is FADING?

Did you also happen to miss that nearly everyone on this thread agrees that this ex-wife attack will likely backfire on Mitt/Obama?

"And frankly, if they do, that will help Newt-—i.e. “Newt took the lead in the polls, and now Romney and the Establishment pull this stuff”. The motivation is too transparent now!"

I hope he follows that advice.

Interetsing that Romney could end up trumped by a guy with even more money to spend than he has.
