Gingrich Attacks CNN for asking about "open marriage" (Good for Newt)
cbs ^ | 1/19/2012 | Leigh Ann Caldwell

Newt Gingrich blasts CNN for opening the debate with a question about "open marriage," a topic discussed by his ex-wife Marianne Gingrich in an interview with ABC news.

Gingrich responded sharply saying, "I am astounded that CNN would use it to open a presidential debate."

Gingrich proceeded to attack the media for being biased against Republican candidates. "I am tired of the elite media of protecting Barack Obama," he said. "They would like to attack any Republican."

The audience responded with a standing ovation.

Best to get the personal stuff now, so they become non-issues during the election.

Loved the look on John King’s face. If Newt’s the nominee, 0bama will have a similar expression during their debates, because a fella knows when he’s being destroyed.

Did you hear the call, Joann, from Texas, on Limbaugh the other day? It was such a good line, she said: “Sure Newt has baggage but we all know his baggage. None of us know what is in Obama’s suitcase!”

Texans are so appealing.

AMEN! I literally jumped up from my seat, pumped my fist through the air, and cheered when Gingrich said that! That’s EXACTLY the kind of response millions and millions of us have been BEGGING our GOP candidates for YEARS to dish out to the left-wing Obama-worshiping “news” media!! And that, my friends, was a brilliant verbal SMACKDOWN!! Newt 1, Media 0.

Good burn. Don’t believe his denials, but no matter. Wish he would have beat up the CNN guy a little more about their selective echo chamber for GOP dirt and muted or non-existent criticism of Obama.

How about the murdered gay members of BO’s church that supposedly had connections with the Won? They would never investigate that because I’m beginning to think that 95% of “journalists” are gay too.

"Romney makes a mistake and 1,000’s lose a job (Bain).

Why are you demonizing the important work of Bain?

Why are you playing into the hands of leftists and playing by the Dumbocraps' script?

Bain did important work by rescuing, consolidating, reorganizing and redirecting struggling companies? Look at Staples, it became a great enterprise.

Mitt's skills from his years at Bain enabled him to rescue the Salt Lake Olympic Committee from its financial fiascoes in the beginning and eventually make the event a roaring success! It was amazing work!

You and others of your ilk need to stop badmouthing free enterprise and read books like Milton Friedman's "Free to Choose."

This one has gone viral all over the net. As Johnny Hart would put it, John King got aced, laced, re-aced, effaced, disgraced, debased, and erased... Kind of like watching a fight between Joe Louis and Little Wee-Wee Jones or something like that.

0bama will have a similar expression during their debates,

I suspect if Newt is the nominee that Obama may make good on his statement to hold it to one-term if he 'succeeds' rather than go for a second as a failure.

Newt will flesh-out Plan B as Obama can't play golf well, is so tone-deaf to vacation lavishly during an economic tsunami, and absent a teleprompter- stutters, hems, and haws unlike anything you might expect from the 'smartest guy in the room'.

I just haven't figured out who they'll run but they'll wait to unleash him/her/it which will allow very little time for vetting. I would have thought Hillary-the-former-White House-frau, but have you seen her lately? Has Bill seen her lately? She looks like an old hippie dude and sounds like, well, a drug addled old hippie dude.

I'll be looking for clues over the next few months.

Your tag line is accurate and thought provoking. ((Dick Obama is more inexperienced now than he was before he was elected.)

His nomination will stand forever as proof that the Left embraces only style over substance. The tone-deafness of this phony and his wife-from-Wook exceeds the bounds of explanation: one jet, two jets, 90+ rounds of golf while people are suffering an economic meltdown of depression proportions is utterly amazing.

Inner city unemployment among blacks may reach a high-water mark under this 'President' but will pale in comparison to the effect he will have on future black candidacies for years to come. Anytime a black decides to run for office there won't be Chris Matthews "dogwhistle", but an Air Raid Siren alert that'll be heard by all, on both the Left and Right.

Obama represents possibly the stupidest thing the communists-among-us have done in ages. It must have been done out of desperation, which is good. It means we're about begin the ascent toward what made America great: self-reliance, smaller government, and a thriving private sector.

We're one election away from the sun rising on this country again. I can see dawn from my house.

Why is Bain Capital hurting free enterprise by donating almost exclusively to Democrats?

I’m not really badmoutthing the work that Bain Capital did.

I’m just making a comparison of the nature of making a mistake and how the Media reacts to it.

Romney did some good w/Bain, but people DID lose jobs in the process.

Nobody lost their job because Newt married the wrong woman.

Just making the point, that’s all....not trying to start a fight.

Have a great day.....and may I suggest decaf?

The commies at CNN don’t seem to have a problem with Slick Willie’s “open marriage”. What’s up with that?

I'm going to throw you a curve ball here. What's up with it? It shows that the cultural liberals in the MSM are stupid, or at least short-sighted.

Cultural liberals want to jam the culture so as to legitimate sexual immorality. If they were smart about their agenda, they'd go out of their way to praise Gingrich for being open-minded and sexually progressive! Then, you guys would be smacked with the good ol' liberal trope: "Even a right wing conservative like Newt Gigrich is comfortable with open marriage. Why aren't you?"

But, cultural liberals inevitably turns into political liberals and thus gets short-sighted. Their candidates might lose! So, they fall into the old habit of attacking people like Newt as hypocrites. In so doing, they actually buttress the moral foundations of the conservative movement. On the other side, the accusation of "hypocrite" translates into "we need to be more moral."

That's why the cultural liberals' Grand Plan to jam the culture has turned into a futile game of Whack-A-Mole. Even if they whomp one mole, another one pops up. In the long run, they can't win.

We're one election away from the sun rising on this country again. I can see dawn from my house.

At 5 am, just before I opened your post, I was sitting here looking out at our N. Ohio snow-covered backyard, a crisp and clear sky, temperature hovering above 10 degrees, and another 6 inches of snow on the way. I heard a coyote howl and my dog woke and let out a few little woofs. Soon the skies will begin to lighten and a new day is on the way. Your post hit at a perfect time.

Dana Bash married to John King

Bash is the daughter of Stu Schwartz, an ABC News producer who is currently the senior broadcast producer of ABC News, based at Good Morning America. Her mother, Frances Weinman Schwartz, is an author and educator in Jewish studies. Bash’s brother, David Schwartz, is a New York City-based video producer.

On May 25, 2008, she married fellow CNN correspondent John King, who converted to Judaism prior to marrying her. It is her second marriage, having previously been married to Jeremy Bash.

Jeremy Bash, 39, cut his teeth as a top aide to California Representative Jane Harman and then shepherded Leon Panetta, Obama’s pick to be CIA director, through the confirmation process. He made such a good impression on Panetta that the top spook hired him.

I think it is a fair question. His personal life and public life are part of his character. I don’t think the question was artful. I think it would have been wiser to frame the question with a comment about the Marianne allegation and move onto the more salient question about the ethics violation investigation. If you look at the video, only a portion of the audience gives him a standing O and those are most likely his supporters.
