The "anybody but Romney"
movement is mostly about Romney...not Newt.
People didn't like Romney in the last election, or any election for President he's been a part of, OR, he would be the President now.
Insofar as being a "Newtbot", it's better than being an "Obamneybot".
Romney stutters and stammers like obama with a broken teleprompter when asked simple questions that he doesn't want to answer, like taxes. Or anytime he's challenged on most of his former "liberal" stances - and there are a lot of them.
The "bot" scenario bunch has tried to attach that suffix to every candidate and even to people like Rush Limbaugh (
i.e. "Rushbot") and it doesn't work.
There is a REASON why people gravitate to an individual, even though it's not to your liking. If we all thought alike, America would be a sad place, and it's getting there with the groupthinkers that blindly follow an idiot like barrack obama.
You are not going to "shame" people to come over to your side by insinuating they are mindless or don't know what they are doing. People who are backing Newt are the same as those backing Romney, hard-working Americans, but personal preference is always there at the end of the day.
Slamming the opposition is the same tactic used by obama, and your hero romney, and to revise an old saying from the 70's, "When you start slinging mud, you lose ground."
We had one RINO in 2009, and had it not been for his pick of Sarah Palin - which gave him a great, last-minute boost - he would have lost even more embarrassingly to obama.
Perception is reality in politics, and the perception of Mitt Romney is not earthshattering right now.
In closing, if you think slamming voters - no matter who they are - is going to gain your guy - or you - any admiration (or votes), then you are as sad as John King was in his ambush attack in the debate.
I’m struggling to understand it as well. But I also struggled to comprehend the Palin devotion.
All I can figure out is conservatives are desperately hungry for someone who can both 1) articulate conservative values in a clear and unapologetic fashion and 2) take names and kick butt-hard.
Marianne Gingrich is not going away. She has a huge axe to grind and she’s going to just keep grinding it to the delight of the DBM. A constant sideshow of this type will overshadow Newt’s message. It will be just like Cain only we’d be stuck with Gingrich as a nominee with no way out.
Newt’s chastising the press is going to get old and start to sound petty. “Never pick a fight with anyone who buys ink by the barrel” is still relevant, IMO.
Obama will never agree to a debate format that would pit him one on one against Gingrich. This advantage will be effectively muted.
So, according to your mores, Reagan should never have been president. Former liberal democrat, he divorced from his first wife, Hell no, Reagan was not qualified.
