One of our most precious freedoms is the secret ballot. Never ever answer either an entrance or exit poller with anything other than “mind your own business!!!”

BTW, who are you to be the arbiter of which of these candidates actually live by God's standards?

Be very careful before you answer that question.

You made some very large assumptions in response to my post, bean counter.

What I am commenting on is the non-stop battering of Santorum supporters who have problems with Newt's past.

I made no comment on Newt's present spiritual condition, only on the hostile reaction to those who have problems with his past moral failings.

Be very careful before you post again.

“It also assumes that Bible Belt Christians will break for a serial adulterer, lier and deceiver. Why I must settle for that as president is beyond me.

“Since when does wanting our President to live by God’s standards being ‘holier than thou?’
Isn’t that what we’re all supposed to desire in a leader? “

Because no one with a brain thinks that anyone can or has.

Demanding that someone lives to perfection to get a vote is to demand that someone lives equal to God.

We have a real danger at the head of the government whom does not care about any Christian’s opinion of him, so most of us are looking to dispatch of that first with the best man to do that. He is not perfection by church standards as we are all not, but he knows how to fight in the political arena as it is now.

So some of us will have to deiced what they want more. To feel or to think.

I have never typed one word against Santorum, but I hope he loses big time today. We need his supporters in Newt’s camp to defeat Romney.

As far as Paul is concerned, every time a Paulbot gets zotted on here, I lose a dollar to the Freepathon. Anyone want to join us 8 who are doing this?

Sorry, Ricky's pompous, hate filled, half truthed rant against Newt Thursday was enough for me.

Thanks for the input. I haven’t watched FNC in, well since 11/08 and thought Cavuto had his head head screwed on correctly. Poor boy…

You have to stay current. What happened a few years ago..... was A FEW YEARS AGO. In this Internet age, what happened 5 minutes ago is ancient history. Those 3G vs 4G commercials on TV are hilarious, but indicative of where we are today. That's why newspapers are DEAD. By the time they print it, it's passe. Magazines, even worse.

Situations have changed DRAMATICALLY in a few months as far as Newt goes. They change daily, as we have seen. FR is just CURRENT. It's “on the cutting edge of societal evolution” to quote Rush.

Get rid of your dial telephone, 8 track player, and typewriter and join the present.

I wish we could combine the best attributes of Santorum and Gingrich into one candidate, then we’d have a winner.

Now THAT would be lovely. :)

I feel sorry for you. I hope you can somehow sort it out and process your anger in a little more mature manner, FRiend. I think what is advisable today in the spirit of Free Republic is to be positive towards one's own candidate and avoid negatives on others. The good news is that neither of us are supporting a RINO, right? The offer still stands if you would like to do that.

PS Oh, yikes, CNN just showed Ron Paul picking his nose! Grrrrrross!!

Let GOD be the judge of a man’s character, all others are sinners. None of them are ordained be the example of who is better than others. Mr. Gingrich is every bit as qualified in that regard.

And here again, we ARE electing a President, not a leader of a church. That standard does not belong in the discussion and is not a standard by which to elect our leaders. It is merely a quality to be respected but not obsessed over.

“It amazes me that people think the American people would choose someone like Calista Gingrich as First Lady”

HUH? We don't choose the first lady! Who cares about the First lady anyway? Just you I guess, no one else votes because of who the first lady will be.

I'll be kind and stop right here.

>>Just returned from voting. Wife and I were, 42 and 41, respectively, to vote at around 10AM. Voted for Santorum.

Voted at 11:05. 121 out of a possible 1742. Voted for Newt.

Most signs in this area were for Newt or Santorum with the exception of one small, handmade “Ron Paul, y’all” sign.

"Pinch me. Is this a presidential primary or a pastor search committee???"

FReeper Tex-Con-Man quote about Newt and ex-wife Marianne:

Tex-Con-Man:

"Wake me up when Newt drowns Marianne in an Oldsmobile"

I have seen no 'brainless' supporters of Biblical morality.
I have seen no one 'demanding' living to perfection.

Other than those glaring misperceptions of what I said, I understand those who prefer a fighter with a past to lead us now.

What I would love to see, and will never see because this is Free Republic, is respect for conservatives who see Santorum as the better candidate (and not say stupid things about Popes and perfection), and see the same kind of respect for those who see Newt as the better candidate.

I thought the same thing about Cain (whom I supported), and Perry.

Some on this forum have been hostile and nasty to others who are EQUALLY conservative, and I'd rather see it stop.
