Today I am really wishing FR had a “ Ignore this poster” button! Geesh!
I just want to read about peoples experiences at the polls and watch the returns come in.

Big ditto to that, Girl !

Still, the various serial foodfights notwithstanding, it's been enjoyable takin' a break and catchin' up with FReepers' thoughts on the day's events in SC.

Carry on y'all, yer doin' good

“Who do you support?

Did you support King David for king of Israel?”

Probably Ahab, who after all was loyal to his wife . . .

Before she got eaten by dogs, anyway.

“I’d rather do housework than watch The Five and I don’t do housework!”

LOL—Some how I knew this to be true.

And Yes Go Newt. :)

For a then 14-yr old to be speaking directly with the King of Jordan was a hell of a rush.

Good comeback. I remember Newt in update NY as well and how infuriating it was to see him support that liberal.

I knew he was doing something against his whole philosophy and life experience, and I asked myself why would he do that?

And the only answer I could think that made sense is he needed speaking and endorsement fees, and the Republican establishment was pulling his strings.

Now with the backing of a well-funded SuperPAC, Newt is independent to act on his own. As I see the old Newt of ‘94 back with us, I pray he will stay with us and clearly he will if he goes all the way to this Fall’s election.

After he gets in the Whitehouse, he will need to size up the Fed and the big banks, the banksters who are in a position to hold a gun to his head and ours to do their will. This sizing up is going to be his first real test.

And don't you believe for a minute that we've forgotten it. I myself was one of his loudest critics on this website, but sometime during this race, I found myself drawing a distinction between Newt's errant positions, and his real ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

Oh, man, Windflier -- BLESS YOU for saying it so extremely well. BULLS-EYE!

And Godspeed Newt Gingrich!!!

15 years ago today Newt was the 1st Speaker in history reprimanded for ethics violations. How will Newt answer this? It’s worrisome.

CONCERN TROLL!

I wanted to report on what I've seen here is SC this week. This is all anecdotal, so take it with a grain of salt.

Economic conservatives:
Before the first debate the folks who I would hear talking about the primary were still favoring Romney over Gingrich and Santorum by roughly a 2-1 margin with a few supporting Perry and Paul. Based on the comments I heard, many of them wanted to support another candidate than Romney but felt he was the one to take on Obama and it was inevitable.

The first debate changed everything. Quite few of the Romney supporters started jumping ship over to Newt. The second debate and Perry endorsement really started putting him over the top. I know one lady who voted for Romney in 2008 and was going to vote for him in 2012 but changed her mind for Gingrich.

Social conservatives:
They were definitely a mixed bag supporting Gingrich, Santorum and Perry. Most did not favor Romney at all and didn't like talking about him. I really don't know if it's his Mormonism or being moderate or both that put these folks off but they definitely don't care for him.

The first and second debate helped Gingrich out with the social conservatives. I think the Perry endorsement and quasi-Palin endorsement really put Gingrich in command with thesm and got them excited about Gingrich. I still think quite a few of them really like Santorum overall, so he should do well with them.

Republican Moderates:
The moderate style of Republicans are sticking with Romney and they haven't seemed phased by anything. I will say this that this group seems to be sticking Romney and they aren't giving up.

Turnout at my precinct seemed low but that is probably pretty common for a primary. That's it from the Lowcountry.

Callista was born March 4, 1966, which makes her 45. Newt is 68, so he's 23 years older (I earlier mistakenly said she was 30 years younger)
