He was elected to the Florida House of Representatives for the 111th district in a special election on January 25, 2000. He has won each of his re-election bids.[12] In November 2006, he was elected Speaker of the Florida State House for the 2006–08 term.

Fair enough, but I meant in a major position on the national stage (House, Senate or governor). I don’t count being a representative at the state level as serious experience toward a Presidential bid, just a step to those more prominent positions.
